well, been having issues with my aircon

slowly losing its charge over the past month or so, had it in leaks and a recharge for £50 done...

then a few weeks later on it loses again

some valves replaced and another recharge at discount £40

lost it's pressure again, noticed yesterday in the heat, now my mechanic is saying the condenser (£350), vagparts.co.uk have it for 225exc VAT, which is better than nothing.

she is going in on weds to look for leaks around the condenser, but if nothing there then the condeser is going to have to be changed (can't survive summer on black leather with no aircon)

    also in need of :

    1 control arm (£70)
2 front tyres in the next month or so (£120)
    insurance and mot september (£550)
    1 major service (coming upto 80k) (£300)
1 mp3 cd changer (think this will be sacrificed) (£170)
1 trip to glastonbury plus major expenses !!! (£300) paid for already apart from spends !/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

don't even want to add it up

she drives well but is sucking my wallet, not feeling great about her at the moment /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

That was non-OEM but at the end of the day it dosen't matter with a part like that. That was the only reason I reccomended them as I usually only buy OEM /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

What's happened to your condensor, is it stone chips or stress fractures?

not sure yet what the cause is.

going in on weds to check for leaks around it and to check the condenser and the whole system again...

just preparing myself for the bills...

thanks for the info, was going to ask if it was worth / mattered buying oem for this.

will go for the cheapest one with a guarantee...!

Hey Fraser, my aircon has cost me nearly a £1,000 in 4 years, new dryer, new condenser, new pump, new heat exchanger and 5 recharges.
Finally when my aircon guy told me there is nothing left to replace my blower has started playing up. Still waiting for a new controller.
It's like all the components get jealous of the others so start playing up. Guess it's the price I pay for running a 7 year old Audi.

well got my car back last night...

small valve was leaking on the aircon, so that replaced and a top up on the gases = £45 cash /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    onto the next repair...
