    Replace the S-Line springs for Eibach Sportlines and added some Eibach Spacers (12mm rear and 8mm front) to achieve exactly what I had in mind - a perfect stance that makes the car look so much more planted on the ground :)

    Thanks to all that helped me with my questions :icon_thumright:

    I've still got to fit my black grille and S3 rear diffuser but never get round to it :)

    I can't believe how much better it FEELS though - the rough patch of ground behind my house where I park is so much smoother to drive over yet when when pushing it on the tight turns driving into Wales, it holds its shape so well and gives me a lot more confidence in the car's handling. Body roll has been reduced by a fair bit and you can actually feel the springs tighten up when pushed a little harder.

    The most important mod/upgrade for any A3 owner I'd say :)

    This is exactly what I noticed after fitting mine. You can feel the springs being soft over small bumps etc.. and then firm up when driving hard.

    The Eibachs sound like a noticeable imporvement in ride quality over bad surfaces.

    Did you leave the standard S line dampers?

    Yeah left the standard S Line dampers on but fitted some new top mounts while it was being done.

    When driving hard on turns, it feels more firm. Over rough surfaces, it feels smoother than standard. Don't get me wrong, you can still feel every bit of uneven ground, but it's not crashy like the standard S-Line springs. The car just feels more solid over uneven ground.

    When you had yours fitted were the top mounts done as well? it was about £300 all in right?

    this just makes me want to get mine done even more now!

    i want to feel like i can push the car on the corner and know it can take it. used to get that feeling on my old Ford Focus when i have the Eibach springs fitted. on the Audi it just feels like the car is just going to skid out of control on the corners.

    how does it feel on the speed bumps and pot holes?

    50mm mate, but that's only about 25mm lower than standard S-Line springs.

    Better than standard, although I still slow right down for speed humps and try and avoid pot holes completely out of habit.

    Yep, the front top mounts were done too for £299 all in, including alignment.

    Speed bumps are fine. Probably a bit softer than my Sport springs.
    Small pot holes are also fine. Larger ones and the springs are stiff over them. Not back breaking, but firm. But you need that firmness otherwise your car will be hitting the floor!

    i heard that once these springs are on i wont be able to drive straight over those silly small speed bumps in the roads (the ones where you can get a tyre either side) as it catches the middle of the front bumper... going to need to find a way around that problem now!

    My fear comes from scraping the underneath of my car... which I have done a few times on the island type speed bumps.
    The trick is not to drive over them with your wheels either side as people normally do. Its best to drive with either your left wheels or right wheels going over the bump.

    Haha, see my last post.

    I can get away with going wheels either side on normal sized bumps like that. (usually the standard bumps that are specially made out of some sort of rubber).
    But some of the stupidly high bumps knocked up using tarmac can catch.

    I would say in 2000-3000 miles I have caught 7-8 bumps. And there are A LOT of bumps where I live!

    yeah i know your area fairly well... reason i ask is that i am driving through East London alot as i work there and areas like Bethnal Green, Mile End and Stepney are riddled with the damn bumps

    They lower 50mm at the front and 40mm at the back.

    Trust me, you will have to go slower, mostly because after the first time you catch your engine guard you won't want to do it again. But you'll be fine. In fact since lowering its probably made me realise I was going too fast over speedbumps and possibily wearing my suspension quicker.

    I drive to West London every week and at least 6 miles of the journey is over speedbumps for every 20 yards! (I take the back streets to avoid traffic). Within a week or so of driving you can tell by just glancing at a speedbump if you'll be ok over it and how fast you can go.

    Thanks for the tip, I never thought of that and so far have been blasting straight over those type of bumps without any care haha

    Nothing compares to my FTO though where the front bumper is about 50mm off the floor, I have to think twice about which route I take places in that. Pain in the **** to be fair though :)

    The only thing about doing it this way is that I am now one of those annoying people who slow down for every bump and have a whole road of cars bunched up behind me. :3sadwalk:




    I speed off inbetween bumps though. :superman:

    Looks good AgentT. I like the height of the Eibach drop as it's still practical but gets rid of the big ugly gaps. RS6s look way better spaced as well.

    Got the same springs on my sline sportback and have found exactly the same thing. Done over 1K miles now though so don't notice so much. Fortunately I never really encounter the pimple style speed bumps up here and normal ones aren't a problem. Only belly scraping issue I had was last week. The car was parked in a private spot with one of those bollards that you can unlock and fold down. I got some nasty scrappage when I pulled out of the space. I didn't park the car in the space but I guess it scraped on the way in as well.

    I always **** myself when I see those bollards too.

    I don't know how these people with coilovers wound right down get away with it. If mine was any lower it'd be un-drivable where I live and for my purposes.

    i wonder how worse it can get with the front splitter on, as i can see you guys dont have one on the bottom of your s-line bumpers?

    Ok, one more reply before I go home...............

    The front has never been a problem foe me, I always seem to have good clearance over bumps etc. Its just the underside of the car that can cause issues.
    I reckon you'll be ok with your splitter. Just be careful when pulling up to a kerb nose first, like when parking in a carpark or something.

    Car looks superb and you cant go wrong with Eibachs. I have always been a fan of using the standard shocks and fitting lower springs as long as the standard shocks are in good order. I did this with a BMW 3 series E46 and fitted schnitzer springs. The car looked fantastic and honestly it drove so much better with no loss of comfort.
