Owned an 05 plate 182 Cup. Proper rapid little machine. Proper.

I joined the forum for more or less the same reasons I've joined this forum, socialising with like minded people and it's an extensive knowledge base.

However. Most of the young guys run around in chav'd up 1.2 Clios and only ever aspire to own the V6 model.

The General Chat and Other Marques sections are full of stories of how these machines not only routinely match but surpass far more expensive models on both performance and style. :ermm:

Most of the "vs" threads start, "I had a brief tango/play with a Saturn V rocket the other day. It was pretty neck and neck to 60, then he started to pull away. Reckon I would have had him in the twisties...."

Mostly I ignore these and still attend there meets as the Scottish lot are a good and sensible bunch of lads. A recent thread though stated that the new S3 was crap and that the RS3 wouldn't be worth the money. Considering the RS V6 is knocking on for 30K and is a bucket I'm not sure what they're point is.

Most frustrating. :banghead:

It's amazing how soo many people know that the new S3 is crap, as they have all driven them.

I remember owning my williams clio, then driving my dad's A3 1.8T sport back in 1998, wow, what a different driving experience.

I've driven a Clio V6, it was an early lower power model though, it makes a great noise and has huge road presence, almost feels like owning a supercar when you are thundering down the road at full chat and everyone is looking at the rarity of it, but it was only as quick as my S3(210BHP at the time) in a straight line, and it had a turning circle of 30 metres, so a 3 point turn is more like a 21 point turn lol.
It's a nice car to own and drive, but not for me... maybe I should have tried the later model with 255BHP, interior still looks like a 1.2RN though :p

Ah, 'vs.' threads. Usually worth a read for a giggle but they have a nasty tendancy to take over a forum. Briskoda used to have a fair share of those when the Fabia vRS started getting popular and the exotic machinery those little oil burners slayed made the mind boggle.
