Possibly Edition again this year N8 - been giving it a bit of thought but with work and holidays, I am not entirely sure what to do yet.

Done one show already over here this year and was good fun so hopefully I get the bug and be dying to come back over to edition

Have you heard much about it this year? 10th year but I have heard that there will be a lot of changes?

    Very trick,i like it.

Re Edition,i know a couple of the crew, and as you say they were on about making it a bit special, even something like
invite only, but i don't think it will end up being any different than normal

I know there were a few issues last year with a number of attendee's but invite only would be a bit pointless in my opinion and the crowd would be much, much less!

I didnt know anyone was diffing in the fields :-S I heard about a lot of drug taking and a bit of theft!

The condition of the toilets completely turned me which is making me reluctant to go back to be honest but the banter was mighty and the whole event was very memorable!!

    Plus meeting N8 was a life's highlight lol :p

Latest mods to the car! These came as a suprise offer. I had never considered doing these mods at all to the car as I could not justify the prices of the parts but I couldn't say no this time!

Brand new Forge Short Shift Kit

    Standard out:

    New Forge one in:

    All connected up:

View with battery box back in place:

The difference this makes to the car is unreal! The box now feels so much better and more "clunky!!" I have fallen in love again with the car hehe!

Also go these - Forge Coolant Hose Kit:

Don't know yet wether to fit these or not as the majority of the pipes are not in view and will be a hassle to fit. However, when I get my ITG I might consider fitting these then! For the time being, they will be sitting in the cupboard!

Next up is insurance and clutch! My LUK flywheel arrived last month so it's sitting gathering dust while I wait for my SACH's clutch :)

No update as such guys but went on a driving holiday earlier this month. In Northern Ireland we have a 12th July holiday to celebrate the Battle of the Boyne back in the day. Public holiday and a lot of factories take the week off so I was fortunate to get a free weeks holiday :)

Since the girlfriends grandad lives in Co.Clare, South Ireland, we decided to hit the west coast S3 style and enjoy the coastal roads, mountain passes and lots and lots of Guinness :)

Started in Belfast, headed to Sligo and got a hotel in Ballina. From there headed along the coast to Ballycastle, Clare Island, Galway then finishing in Kilfenora, Co. Clare.

We passed through the Delphi Mountains in Co.Mayo, The Burren in Co.Clare and cross The Shannon and went over Connor Pass to Dingle and back. Over all a fantastic trip and did 962 miles. The roads were unbelieveable and I have been living in Ireland all my life and never knew places like this exisited so enjoy several photos :)

Connor Pass over to Dingle - really foggy on the way up!

    yeooo lol

But then the fog lifted on the way down

Beautiful driving roads there Boydie. Reminds me of some of the best Scottish roads I seek out when up there with work...:racer:

Loving the wheels as well. :icon_thumright: I like my std S3 wheels a lot but really starting to come round to the BBS idea with sprint blue as S3s getting more common around my way.

Avoiding the wheel threads to resist temptation for now...

    Thanks for the comments guys!

Going to be saving up now for the Sachs clutch and ITG CAI so hopefully get that in the next couple of months!

I am really tempted now to get a small sound system!

Thinking of a Focal 8" sub in a moulded box over the rear wheel, focal 6.5" components and either a Genesis 5ch amp or 2 focal amps. Decisions!!

Haven't had an update on the S3 in a while so here it goes!

The cold weather kicked in, clutch started slipping again and VAGOC had a group buy! So, bought the clutch and started fitting it a couple of weeks ago.

My mechanic buddy is carrying out the work for me but unfortunately he has tech and work commitments so we are working on the car when he is free, I am in no rush as I have my brothers Astra do tie me over. The good thing is, I am saving a lot of money on fuel and mileage is being kept off the S3!

Engine cover off, intake out, battery out, gear box and clutch casing

Standard clutch plate, disc and flywheel

    Everything out

Inside of clutch case and release bearing

    Release bearing out

    Old clutch above, new below

    New flywheel on!

Well, once we had the gear box out etc... we had a discussion on the way forward. We had to drop the subframe down to helps us manually lower the gear box soooooo this left us with the options of changing the ARB's and downpipe....so,

H&R ARB's purchased (only one pictured)

Milltek Down Pipe with High Flow Sports Cat

So excited to get the car back, next mod for sure is the ITG intake but that will have to be after xmas but will try get it before the new tax comes in but have MOT and road tax to pay for in jan :(

Hopefully get the car back this week with a bit of hard work so fingers crossed!!

How much work is is dropping the subframe? I want ARBs but i've been put off the front because of the fact the subframe needs dropping!

Gorgeous car matey. I love Sprint Blue and BBS CHs

    Thanks mate

It isn't a massive job at all. Get the car up on the ramp, take the wheels off and start removing bolts from the subframe. You have to disconnect the steering rack which is a bit fiddely but all in all, it didn't take very long at all.

I will try get some pictures of the installation.

Oh and by the way, when installing the H&R's, you have to drill out the standard brakets from the orginal ARB's and use them on the H&R's :S thought this was a bit drastic and for the money you spend on buying these you would think that they would supply you with new brackets.

Yeh I sold them both to Nige, you have to remove the front for the air ride, its not as solid thru corners, but it still rides well.

If your clutch is slipping it means your flywheels getting damaged also and makes sense to change it while there both out even its not slipping on a higher mileage car.

I have had a bit of time to catch up on ASN and thought I would update the thread slightly - nothing major at all to be honest.

With all modded S3's you will experience some mechanical issues and what seems to be the most popular is missfiring :(

I had to change the flapper motor for the manifold intake and plugs - some job lol seems to be a common enough part to replace so I have read.

Couple of weeks back, we had our annual show Dubshed on so got my ass in gear and had the car detailed and ready for the show:

    Very pleased with the outcome!

BBS CH's are sitting in my mates garage ready to get refurbed but I am really starting to like the look of the car on the standard wheels!

Not many future plans left for this car but I am sure things will change. Ideally the following is what I want to do for the summer:

    Triangle Retrim
    Door armrest retrim
    MY09 head light switches
    MY09/TT wing mirror switch
    Xenon style DRL's bulbs
    Xenon style fog bulbs
