can you not wire it up to the normal switch using a timed latching circuit (relay cap etc) so one click would open.

I cheaper out and got the dummy buttons...

As for the vinyl, I have piano black trim in the car so I was experimenting with the look... I may be installing the Pioneer AppRadio 2 and that is gloss blask too so I thought I might try to get the surround gloss black. I already said I'm cheap so I thought of ways to do it without having to pay to get it resprayed.
