My Dolphin Grey A3 2.0 TDi - Progress Thread

Right so on Sunday I had my car mapped by shark performance at gti international!

Car pulls loads better, feels like its always ready to go, really torquey, cant wait to get it on the rolling road.

Sadly on monday it started making a siren like noise as i was driving along, which as well as being embaressing didn't sound healthy. So I booked the car into an audi specialist today to be looked at and my suspicions were confirmed. The turbo needs replacing. So looks like i'm stuck driving a skoda courtesy car over the weekend.

On the plus side, I will be getting a brand new garrett turbo and not a recon unit.
 
That's not so good you're car's poorly at the moment Matt :(. At least it's getting fixed though , so you can start enjoying your Shark map again, yayy!! I've got a Shark Performance map on mine and absolutely LOVE it!

As you're only up the road from me and as I'm getting mine tomorrow, where did you have your window tints done and are you happy with their work???

I know of one place in Brum, but always interested in recommendations. Oh and may I ask how much they stung you??

cheers, did you go to their unit for yours or get the device so you do it yourself?

where abouts in brum are you from, tints were done in cradely heath at tint fx, very reasonable prices. i take all my cars there.

I live about 2 miles from the airport, or 3 miles from Solihull, however you want to look at it :happy: I'll look them up on the web as it's one of the first things I want to get done
 
very nice.... I've got a soft spot for those wheels too, need to find some although may have to be reps

I bought their STS handheld unit, so I can change the map as and when. Will be going stage 2 in a fortnight, so will pay them another £100 and get the map sent to me via email to upload.

oh right same, so we must live pretty close. i actually work at the airport.

dont get reps bud, of any wheel. i personally dont agree with them. genuine ftw.

mine arent for sale but if i got offered the right amount of money i would sell them. as there are a few other styles i want to play with.

i did think about the sts but i cant see me ever needing to change the map. bet you cant wait to get more power!!! lol

Car looks amazing mate, always been a fan of the grey, those wheels suit the car very nicely too.
 
im feeling some new wheels already...

maybe bentleys, just someting people will see and think jeez

i know to most people on here bentleys on an a3 is nothing but to joe blogs on the street they will be like WOW

if anyone knows of anything give me a heads up
 
Have a look on wheel-whores theres a few sets of bentleys going on there. Some nice mulliners just depends how much you wanna spend
 
if anyone knows of any milliner style 19s, let me know :)

just missed out on a set, freshly refurbed and new tyres for 1400

gutted is an understatement

dewipered the rear today...

what an effort

firstly couldnt get boot panel off, then the wiper itself

took a hacksaw to it... LOL

and then stuck my fingers together while glueing in the glass disc

ah well.. looks much cleaner now :)
 
Matt, Just wanted to say thanks for the heads up with tint fx :thumbsup:

Emailed Tag earlier, going to try and get booked in over the next week, bargain price :happy:
 
Loving the colour Matt. Could you take a few pics of how the underside of the car sits now youve lowered it? Ie where the lowest parts are and the sump height etc You had any issues with speed bumps yet?
 
Yeh the underside scrapes along bumps all of the time. And in multi-storey car parks. Sounds horrific. Thinking about putting some more standard looking wheels on with no stretch and highering it up a bit. Won't look as good but I need it to be practical now. Need to find someone to part ex wheels with. Possibly those 18s on the new a3 and tt that are gunmetal and polished. We will see.
