    That looks nasty JCB.

We can only talk from our own experience and this is what we base our advice to our customers.

We have heard of several cases of snapped rods with other companies turbo kits.

Due to the balance and flow of a complete kit like ours we do not have to run very high boost and exhaust gas temps to gain the power. This is one of the main plus points which add to the durability of the 1.8T engine.

Our own Audi TT race car runs the BDM18TGT2860RS turbo kit mapped to around 350 BHP. This car has run reliably for 2 whole seasons on standard rods and injectors. Therefore, as yet we have no evidence to support advising our customers to spend more money on doing their conversion than they need to. We obviously would be very happy to carry out the work if the customer insisted.

We now offer our kits in 3 options. 325BHP GT2860RS -5. 350BHP GT2860RS -1 and 400+BHP GT2871R which is currently being developed on our own Audi TT race car for the 2008 season.

We are very happy to answer any questions and pride ourselves on tip top customer service.

    Hi Mark,
I've got some additional questions regarding your kits.

    - How much difference is there in driveability between the -1 and -5 kit?
    - Are there any problems with emissions when it comes to MOTs, due to the fact that sports cats are used? And is this something you can guarantee, given the car's emissions before the conversion is good?
    - Is there anything extra required (work or otherwise) ontop of the car's normal Audi scheduled servicing?
    - Why is there a fmic installed on your race car, when it's not recommended in your kits?

    Cheers,

    Glen

    Hi Glenn,

    Thanks for your questions Glenn.

We do recomend a FMIC especially for people who want to use the car on track where intake temperatures can get particularly high due to the constant slowing down and speeding up.

A lot of the customers that come to us already have FMIC and some prefer not to. We try to limit the main kit to the essential components and then give customers other options depending on the use of the car and what they already have on it.

The GT2860RS -1 spools up a bit later than the -5. There isnt a great deal in it. The main difference is that the -1 can flow more power due to the larger A/R size. Most of the customers with road cars opt for the -5. It's personal preference really. Both turbos are now in stock.

After the kit is installed we ask for the car to come back at around 500 - 1000 miles for a nut and bolt check together with a diagnostic. We also recomend a good quality oil to be used and changed at around 6000 mile intervals. Generally our customers work their cars quite hard. There is no point having an upgrade like this and not enjoying the benefits!

There is no reason why a car with our kit on should fail an immisions test due to the kit being installed. We would therefore guarantee that the kit will not cause your car to fail an MOT immisions test.

Hope that answers all your questions Glenn?

    Thanks for the information Mark.

Hopefully others looking to do the conversion will find it useful.
