Moving from A3 8P to A4 B8

Hi,
Sorry if this has been asked before, I've tried searching but not really found what I'm looking for.

I currently own an '07 A3 TDI 170 SLine, to be honest it's been problematic. I really like Audi's, so it's not put me off. I'm looking into buying an A4 B8 2.0 tdi Sline, my question is: Do all B8s have the CR engine? I'm looking at an '09 reg but don't want another PD engine. Is the CR a better engine than the PD?

I think it's just luck of the draw. I had more issues with my B8 A4 than any of the three 8Ps put together!
