So I’ve done some reading on the forum and it advised me to get this;

https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/...engine-parts1/engine-oils/?521771851&&cc5_252

I’ve just picked it up and realised it doesn’t say “503.01” on the back? I don’t know what it means but judging by the post I was reading it’s essential to be 503.01. So the question is, do I use it or not???

Here’s the link to the thread on this forum that I’ve been reading;

What engine is it going in. I wouldn't put 0w-40 oil in a 1.8T especially if it's mapped. It's too thin.

I've just been buying the Halfords own oil on offer I think it is £20 for 5 litres for the Audi/VW and less for Ford/Merc

So what are we thinking then guys? Take this back and go quantum 5w30? The car is at 173k and is going for a dyno remap at badger5 at some point.

Any fully synthetic 5w-30 or 5w-40 will be absolutely fine in your car, changed every 8000miles or thereabouts.

There is far too much ******** being spoke about oil.

As long as its changed regularly, engines are not too fussy about what you put in them.

tend to agree:haha: Seen plenty of engines ruined by terrible oil (lack of) servicing but never one ruined by not dotting the finer "is" and "ts" on oil small-print selection.

0w40 is fine. It’ll actually perform better at cold start in cold weather
