Did this last weekend, let em know what you guys think.

It didn't take long, and the LED's match the screen colours. I also changed the < RETURN > buttons to white to match the four centre buttons.

If anyone wants this mod, i have a donor circuit board, but i will require your old circuit board back in exchange, will haveto work out a deposit system, if you are interested.

The nice thisn is when you change the control head, you dont ned the Component protection removed. But you will need VAG-COM to clear the faults.

Looks nice, but it's not the control head, it's the MMI panel,

Very nice - is this an easy mod? and what sort of cost and time is involved?

Is it a bullet proof mod that will last the test of time?

You can see I am interested :readit:

    Hi Cockney Boy

Just another thought on your mod to the MMi led's. I was looking at the new 09 model year centre console & I see the Stop Start button is now a nice chrome round one - as opposed to the black plastic affair in mine

    09 Model year

Or How about the nice CHROME version of the RS6

Below is the Older style - stop & start flat plastic buttons/switch

Just wondered how easy it was to remove the console panel to do the work on your LED's - and if it would be possible to change the fascia to the NEW 09 version with better looking Start Engine button [ I presume connections are all there as I have all the buttons ]

And whilst on the theme of updating / LED's - what about the new 09 headlights that now incorporate daytime driving lights - again I have this - but in the old formatt. Would the new unit be an easy straight replacement i Wonder ???

    Any thoughts?????????

I notice a lot of the above items are available as aftermarket fitment abroad - http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?i...n&safe=off&rlz=1T4RNWN_enGB271GB272&sa=G&um=1

Why not the UK ......... guess I'd best ask my steeler :sign_unfair:

The Mod is very easy, you need to gain access to the MMI Panel circuit board, which will show the LED's. You need the correct value LED's, but it looks like the LED's on the standard circuit board are not current limited. so a 5 volt SMT (surface mount technology) should be ok. You will need two soldering irons to remove the old LED's. But. I will be doing this mod for another member in the next few weeks.

I have a donor circuit board, that can be modified. and i will be selling this for £60.00, but with a £100.oo efundable deposit. So when you send me your old circuit board back, i will send your £100.00 back.

Let me know if your interested.

I would be interested - but i'm the lazy sort [ with no technical know-how ] that prefers to let someone do all the work - ie. someone who knows what they are doing.

I wouldn't even know where to start looking for the circuit board? Let alone the rest of the work required.

I will be down Buckingham way at the weekend - my friend runs a new S8 and I will mention it to him too.

    Is the mod bullet proof?

Just for info , here is a pic of my centre console , sorry for poor image as taken with iphone. But there are one or two light scratches already and in the silver finish - isnt as tough as the carbon fibre - which will probable hide any marks better too.

Would look good with the multi coloured LED's too:hubbahubba:

Will enquire at my dealer if its possible to convert my 07 console to the 09 with the chrome start button etc.
