I've had my milltek on a few weeks but can't help but notice the pipes sit in the recess a lot! Plus they are on the pi55 when u look at them lol. Is this how everyone's look, only reason I never bothered to ask before was my original always sat a bit wonky what do you's think?

They should sit level and straight are you sure you haven't got a 3 door version as they are shorter in length than the sportback version could be the Reason why its sitting back in from your bumper or it mite just need a little adjusting as the Joints might be slid on too far

For the tdi sportback milltek said thats the gttdi mk5 5 door and 3 door is the same as the sportback audi a3 one but on the 3 door a3 its slightly shorter, but if your not happy with it jack the car up from behind and loosed the clamp where the back box connects onto the centre pipe and pull the back box out a bit and clamp down as hard as you can so its secure then pull tail pipes out a bit aswel to as far as they go and clamps tight again, should sit better by doing that 30minute job, also if you think tail pipes are angles more than usual you have to swap tail pipes over as you may have wrong one on wrong side

ive purposely left mine slight hidden on my tdi due to dirty black smoke from remap lol but wipes clean with dry tissue wouldnt ever buy any other exhaust system again, my car doesnt even sound like a diesel under throttle

I say yours sits quite nicely same sort of distance out of the valance as mine on my sportback

Well I did think it was a 3 door when I realised but the numbers tally up with the one for the Sportback.
I can't pull it out any further as it starts to hit on the subframe!
    ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21372318385.150631.jpg

So if I try an push the tips out it'll make that touch the subframe.

What do you mean about swapping the tips over? Mine are welded on to the back box.

Probably the tail pipes are for the 3door......had a similar problem and the reason was that the dealer, not miltek, had send me the 3 door version of the tail pipes.

The system is brand new. Here's how the tail pipes look
    ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21372333680.261161.jpg

And here's how it look from the side to give a better view of how far in it sits
    ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21372333726.190826.jpg

The back box has the stamp on it for a Sportback so if it is a 3 door box milltek have stamped the wrong badge on?
    ImageUploadedByTapatalk 21372333780.418107.jpg

If that's how other people's Sportback systems sit I'm not bothered but my mates Polo GTI system sticks out flush with the surround so you can just see the milltek stamps on the top of the pipes

If his tail pipes are wrong it means the whole back box is wrong as the tail pipes are welded to the back box

The new models can be adjusted. On the older ones the tips are welded and can't be adjusted.

So we are saying that this is somehow old stock and they make a newer system where the tips can be adjusted?

It's an S3 so presume milltek made it with the S3 rear bumper?

Milltek for the s line and sport is same system as i had mine fitted when i had sport bumper on rear but then changed for s line bumper, the s3 system is a totally different one to the a3's, as said above yours is the older system thats why exhaust tips cant be adjusted mines only about 4 months old

Milltek got back to me and said all the Sportback systems have the welded tips? But you say yours are adjustable?

They want to see more pictures of the hangers so sent that off to them today, hopefully get a response tomorrow.

Yh maybe they are just welded on the petrol models due to generating more heat and possibly spitting flames etc

The 3dr exhaust is a few inches too short on the sportback.

Depends on what your willing to spend.
Bcs would make one for you and Milltek offer exhausts for the sportback but either of them will cost you over £400 though.

You need the one without DPF so you'd need to ring them as you need the centre section from a 3dr one and the rear section from one of the later sportback ones.
If I was you I'd ring Nige at bcs tell him what your after and he'll sort you out, it'll be cheaper than Milltek and better quality.

Hi mate, only just seen this and I know you have an S3 but i had the same issue a month ago on my A3 and what milltek found was the s-line bumper is a lot deeper so the tailpipes needed another 50mm of pipe added to them. The tailpipes are adjustable on the A3 system and I have attached the photos of before and after milltek sorted the system.
