Nice driving! Impressed at how well you got away from the Evo, and how badly did that 6-Series bog down? It looked like he'd stalled it!

Just how do you extract so much power out of the S3 with relatively small boost and a few minor mods?

I'm really impressed by the performance of your car and wondering why it has not yet blown up!

Have you had it independently dyno'd?

Yes, the S3 won all those races.

    1st race - modded BMW M3, i couldn't get a very good start but i won.
2nd race - the same modded BMW M3, but i had a much better start.
3rd race - standard BMW M6, i had a perfect start and i won, but after around 1/8 miles the M6 started recuperating (well, it has "only" 507 Hp)
    4th race - standard BMW 135i, 306 Hp - 400 Nm - 3.0 twin turbo
    5th race - modded EVO9 with +350 bhp

The S3 is doing just fine, i had no problems whatsoever with it and it doesn't use a single drop of oil between servicing. Also i have monitored all the essential parameters of the engine like AFR, EGT, Boost, etc. and everything is spot on.

@CJP80, i didn't put the car on a dyno because around here is very hard to find an accurate 4x4 dyno. I used the VAG COM technique to measure its horses and so far this method seems to be pretty accurate.

Adrian. Its nice to see a beautiful classy S3, wasting an Evo. I wish more lads on here would take their S3s to the 380bhp-400bhp bracket! Keep up the good work!

I am tempted to stick on a full miltek and BMC intake, but on 98ron fuel, even with a custom code I can't see me getting much more than my current 330 GIAC map. Remember he's running 100ron fuel.

Also, I'm amazed his stock fuel pump is happy with that much power!

Jesus thats impressive driving! One criticism though... Can your mate with the camera please invest in a tripod :)

That M6 ran a 16 something quarter. Thats slow, thats like normal hot hatch slow.... I know it takes a second for the Auto tranny to hook up but even still thats bad. I guess he wasn't holding the car on the brake?

Watch this space, its just a matter of time (won't be 380bhp, but hopefully wont be much less). And I get the feeling there will be more than 1 of them.

Adrian, fantastic driving mate, absolutely storming drives. I can't launch anything like that well at present, but makes such a difference. Many of those cars are supposed to be able to put in sub 13s quarter miles. Your mods have the S3 running just as it should. Spot on!

    How is your clutch holding??
When you say you monitored those values, did you install other gauges?? Such as wideband AF and EGT??

I was worried about that too. By the look of it these clutches aren't invincible. One warranty invoice for a clutch and a haldex controller seal.

When i raced the M6, my S3 did 13.1 sec and the M6 did 13.3 sec.

169.81 is my exit speed in kmh, thats ~ 105 mph.

The clutch is fine so far and is the standard one. The only mods i have are listed in my signature.
You can log AFR and EGT using VAG COM, measuring blocks 034 and 031.

Hiya mate , what RON fuel are you running on?

For the mods you have listed your bhp figure is VERY high , i would of thought fuel cut issues would start happeing around 330bhp+?

    Thanks

I'm not disputing the bhp claims...not at all.:applaus:

I'm trying to get to the bottom how he's got so much power off so few mods?

A Miltek, panel filter , and a stage 2 remap, in this country i don't think we would get 340-50bhp off that lot , and then you have the fuel cut issues, are the UK tuner full of sh$t ( about power claimes and fuel cuts ) or are the overseas tuners better or taking risks?

First i had a Wetterauer custom remap (german company) which showed +360 Hp and 414 Nm on VAG COM and now it has a Superchips (UK company) remap which works just fine.

I am sure that they can provide a custom file for your needs. Also they know very well the TFSI engines because they remap them for VW Racing Cup.

Yeah i'm a member on there mate ( had a brief fling with a MK2 Cupra ) according to the tuners fuel cut is a issue on the KO4 turbo'd cars , APR has just brought one out , Revo don't want to map past 320bhp without one, as per the link CC , TBH it wouldn't surprise me if the tuners were all in CAHOOTS to get you to buy a £400-700 fuel pump!

As per this thread 383hp with no upgraded fuel pump.

I guess for a guy driving in off the street with a standard a3 tfsi and paying £800 to leave with 300+ bhp isn't too bad, I think?

Thats for the map and the pump. Didn't know the k04 was one causing the hold up. Cheers for the info.

A bit off topic, but does anyone know how the vag com calculates how much power you have (presumably through accelerometers on the car and knowledge of the cars weight and coefficient of drag - anyone know for sure)?

And has anyone done a vagcom power measurement on a totally standard car to see whether it measures standard power correctly?

I suspect the vagcom measurements are not the last word in accuracy.

I've been sat in an S3 with one of the Revo guys (Nick), and accelerated uphill in 5th gear and seen the ECU post a DTC for low fuel pressure. Its absolutely not some kind of scam. I don't work for Revo or any other tuner so this is an independent view.

In the US some of the over aggressively cars were running so lean under full load they were cooking the valves if they tried to run over 330bhp without the pump upgrade. Once the fuel stops being able to push enough fuel through you go into a limp mode of sorts.

I thought aiculedtzu was running a pump upgrade and a map, didn't realise it was OE pump.

I'm about to order the pump internals next week.

Hi, you can check my posts if you want, i've also measured the power of my S3 when it was standard and it showed 275 hp and 375 Nm on VAG COM. These are the same values that some members got when they tested their S3 on a roaling road dyno.

My car and Mitch78's ran 280-ish bhp and 280-ish lbft std on the dyno.

So from your other thread , the stage 2 remap has given you nearlly 100bhp gain?

Have you had any DTC fuel cut faults logged?

    Thanks

Of course i did, no DTC's, no fuel cuts. Also the AFR and EGT are spon on, so it's not running lean.

Btw, the BMC filter was bought from a tuning shop in Romania, but i guess is not an option for you :)

I would recommend the BMC CDA which is better than the panel filter, but in order to make it efficient you have to get rid of the engine cover.
