Chances are, the car has covered a fair few miles. The original pump will be knakered. If you've gone to the extent of fitting a gt28 to the car a new pump will be a definite before its mapped.
When I eventually get round to fitting a bigger turbo to mine, a new pump will be high up on the list to replace aswell. Don't want to drive all that way, waste niki or bills time to find out full potential can't be reached because I've cut corners

As already said these pumps have done some work already and I have seen loads starting to fail... we get it all the time at Bill's....

I believe Prawn uses an S3 or LCR pump as these are rated higher than the std A3 one... A new S3/LCR pump should fuel enough for hybrid power typically but seeing as the GT2871 can go to 360hp I would personally I would fit an inline pump to compliment the intank... either way I would change the current intank regardless

Stock lcr pump here, a3 one couldn't fuel 230bhp after 150k miles and ran lean.

Lcr pump going strong currently, but if I'm honest I think I'm on borrowed time.

LCR pump is rated the same as the S3 (4bar)... just come is a different fitment as the LCR doesn't have the same fuel tank setup

I was given a walbro 255 in tank pump in a deal with Ben.

I've heard about issues with pickup at low fuel levels when fitted wrongly, but I've also heard of people getting really decent results when fitted correctly, so as it was free, that'll be my first port of call!

if a stock intank wont fuel enough for 230hp, how the hell is it going to feed an inline fueling for 350?
why ask for advice then ignore it.

Healthy std intank pump will act as a lift pump and should be fine to feed an inline pump... the issue with a std pump is it can't maintain the required fuel pressure at the required flow level for the hp expectations ... at the lower pressures required to feed an inline pump then it should keep up...

Fitting an inline pump is not a fix for a failing intank though... if the intank is known to be failing or just old then replace this regardless...

...ideally you would use a swirl pot... and if buying a new intank its worth upgrading to a more capable one... Bill has a suppliers of pumps he has been using for Ibizas as pretty much all he has seen recently have tired pumps... they seem particularly rubbish..

I replaced mine because for good measure before it gets mapped, just to eliminate any problems. That's what you should be doing mate. Eliminate as many problems as you can before its mapped, otherwise they'll come back and bite you in the ass cheek!

You lot have now got me thinking about an upgrade. I fitted a new in tank S3 pump last year but I have no idea how long it'll last on my current setup.

Would have thought would be alright for a good fair few years mate as still running 3 bar iirc?

Theres kits and old stage 2 maps out there like the mtm that run 4 bar and bigger injectors and these seem to last quite a few years although i suspect most of them out there are struggling to provide the correct amount of fuel now with there owners not having a clue car could be running very lean

I have just spoken to fse glenco

they can supply a in tank pump that will flow 318 LPH thet should be good for 500 bhp , but i will add a in-line pump on a switch try it and if no good run both , (im only doing this too see if it can be done with just a in tank , as this would save people £££££ )
