Hey guys, i recently got a warning light on the dash indicating brake fault, when i checked the fluid it was low and found a wet patch under car, after removing all engine covers ive found a metal coolant pipe has been rubbing on the brake line coming from the master cylinder and worn through it!! my next problem is removing it, it seems to run down and round the back of the engine across the bulk head behind heat deflecting, what a complete ***** to get to, is it goingt o be an engine bay strip down????????

Hi,

Sorry for the thread revival! Have you had this fixed? I have had exactly the same happen to mine! Nearly killed me. Metal coolant pipe rubbed through the brake pipe that connects to the front of the master cylinder (front = towards front end of car)

How much did it cost you to have repaired? Going to book mine in at an Audi Specialist, just wanted to check their prices are competitive!

I ADVISE EVERONE WITH A 8L CHECKS THIS BRAKE LINE IS NOT IN CONTACT WITH THE COOLANT PIPE. COULD LEAD TO SOMEONE BEING KILLED!

For reference, here is a picture of this issue. I urge you to check yours!
