    I found this a while back because the "my audi" page doesnt work anymore.
    It is a decoder to translate the options found on the data sticker found in the wheel well in the boot.
    Basically you enter all the option codes eg. 1BE and then press decode.
    It will then tell you what it means so for this example 1BE = sports suspension/shock absorption.
    I hope this will help everone on the audi forum.

    http://igorweb.org/equidec/

    On a seperate note I have a code that is C1L which translates to alloy wheels 7Jx16, offset 45. Does this mean I have 18" rims?
    The tyre code is H6V= 245/45 R 18 Y.
    Its strange because in my opinion they dont look like 18" rims but I am no expert at all.

    Have fun

    Well the rims must be 18" if the tyres say 18 as this is the size of the tyre 45 is the profile and 245 the width of the tyre.

    But if you are running on 45's you have too large a profile for your car the wider the tyre the larger the profile as I was advised by my tyre company.

    I may be wrong but the tyre sizes and profiles work like this

    e.g. 235/45 x 17

    width=235mm
    profile=45% of the width
    diameter=17 inches

    So as docurley mentions above, the wider the tyre, the bigger the profile.

    You seem to have mentioned 1 code saying 7jx16" wheels but another saying 18" tyres :uhm: :uhm: What do the tyres say on them ??

    The tyres say 205/55zr16.
    So the tyre details on the data sticker must have been a mistake.
    But the offset should be right at 45 yeah?

    It sounds like a mistake. I'd guess that the data re the wheels though is probably correct.
    I'm not sure of the offset but I'm sure one of the B5 guys can help.

    AAHH it was human error on my part. Tyre code should have been H6U instead of H6V but to be honest the U and the V on the data sticker look the same.

    8 speakers (active) wtf? I only see two speakers in front driver and passenger door near the storage pocket (also there are speaker looking things around the door handle on each door in the front?) and 2 in the back window shelf.
    Where are the other speakers?

    I have quite a few things that you have listed but its not on my data sticker eg
    6XD= outer rear view mirrors: powered, heated
    1N1 = power steering etc etc
    I have a 6cd changer but thats not listed either but I am the 3rd owner so maybe the second owner who I know bought it from an audi dealer may have asked for a few more options to be added to it before he bought it off them.
    Also I have the light package.
    But maybe Audi became more specific with data stickers in later models after 99.5 and listed every single detail.
    Where is the sub located so I can check if I have one?

    I too have quite a few things on my A4 Avant that aren't listed on the sticker eg 6 disc CD player in boot, think that when Audi decided what equipment their UK models had some of the equipment was just bunched together as 'GB specification' on the code list, and I'm sure there is a code with that name as it is one of the codes on my data sticker......
    I did find a while back a site which listed every single VAG option code as an alpha-numeric listing and it runs to 240-odd pages on the computer monitor!
    As a file its about 6mb in size, so for a text-only file its quite huge!
    As far as I'm aware only the Avants had a sub and its located underneath the nearside luggage compartment; have never seen it but have felt it in action!

    Tell that to the new 911 owners!

    295/30/19 on the rear

    if you increase the profile with width you will be using range rover tyres.....
    I have 245/40's
