Have used the maguiar's 3 step detailing kit yesterday and am very impressed with the fininsh. I have a pearl black Audi A3 and this has given a wet look that is stunning. Admitedly it took about 4hrs from start to finish, but is wel worth it, opted for the zymol car shampoo with sheepskin mit to start.
Can anyone tell me how long this stuff will last before retreatment as Maguiars don't seem to specify and also has anyone else got any feedback to Maguiars detailing range.

Did you clay-bar the vehicle prior to stage1 cleaner?!

The Megs 3 step kit is OK. Cleaner I've heard good stories about.. Polish and the wax however, very rarely get used in the 'professional' line.

Durability of the wax is questionable. Maybe a few weeks!?

If you wanted to stick with Megs, certainly consider the NXT 2.0 wax.. - http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/sealants/meguiars-nxt-2-0-wax/prod_454.html

If it was durability you were after, then definately look at some Collinite 467 - http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/cat_4.html Highly durable, gives a lovely warm gloss and doesn't break the bank.

I'll second that, brilliant wax for the money, brilliant wax even if was twice as expensive to befair.

Megs 3 step is OK to be honest id your paintworks in good nick. The wax though is pants so go for the collinite over the top and you'll be well happy.

As above; the 3-Step system is okay, but easily beaten with many other product lines currently available. On pearl black, I'd suggest you check out this advice and view these example images for just how much further you can take the finish... at the same time extending the durability:

I must admit the Blackfires stuff on Dark colours is very good and even works well if you polish by hand. it is very easy to apply and take off with no residue left. the wetness is amazing.

Thanks all for your advise, firstly i didn't clay first...... I am but an ameture on a budget, I at the moment can't justify £32 for a pot of Blackfire Midnight Sun Ivory Carnauba Paste Wax.
As much as I want it comitments elsewhere will have to come first :sorry:. Keep up all the good work, if any of you want to show me what can be done with the paint on my car .....i will give you my adress ha ha.
Thanks all again.:superman:

Meg's LastTouch is a great all-rounder. I wouldn't ever count on it for protection alone, maybe, like you say James, a quick use between washes.

Also great for clay-lube, door sills, engine bay.. I was also told to use it on the Glass in place of the Meg's Glass concetrate!? heh
