Found this on the tt-forum, thought it would be useful for us guys on here.

    TT-Forum MAF Cleaning

Its an amazingly useful and on-topic thread that hasn't covered about 10 pages, which is a rarity for the TT forum. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Al, in answer to the question you posted on there....the torx screwdrivers are available from any tool supplier, but I would suggest Halfords and probably look at the Facom range of tools.

    Gambba, cheers matey.

I did look in Halfords for the torx keys a couple of months back but couldn't find ones with a hole in the middle. In fact I do have torx keys and sockets but not the ones with the bloody holes.

    Anyway, I'll have another look.

    Rich,

They changed the design of the MAF at some point. I noticed too, that the one in my S3 is different to the one that was in my old '99 A3 1.8T.

That interesting! Wonder if there is any improvement on the S3 one a if it fits the A3.. also if its less prone to fcuking itself...

What exactly are the symptoms of a bad air mass meter? I have a 98 A4 1.8 and it seems to lag badly from a stop. I got the impression that this could be related to the air mass meter, is it possibly this?
