We have specced black fine nappa leather with silver stitching but still cant really 100% make our mind up

My wife & I both agree the lunar silver fine nappa leather interior looks gorgeous

One question to those that have it in theirs - Do you suffer from colour transfer from the likes of jeans or dark clothing, more especially in the wet

    Thanks in advance :)

Hi I went for black part leather/altcantara which is both cool in the summer & warm in the winter, if you go for the grey leather it looks great when it's new,but as time goes by it will get dirty how ever much you clean it ( just my thoughts !)

Haven't got it but remember when picking up my S3 that the dealer had a glacier saloon S3 with the Lunar silver leather and it did have marks on the seats already.

Remember commenting to the Mrs that we were glad we hadn't gone for it as looked slightly grimy on the drivers seat already not to mention it looked plain weird when the car was white anyway.

I would definitely have ordered Lunar Silver if it was an option on S line A3's. I really struggled to decide between a Sport with grey leathers and an Sline with black.

But it does entirely depend on the exterior colour too.

    No.
IMO lunar leather looks awful, no matter what type of car/colour it's in.
Stick with boring black if you want full leather, or better still alcantara.

    I have got Lunar Silver.
    Its fine.
6 months / 5k miles / dark jeans etc / looks like new.

However, I am not sure about 'when wet'. Maybe one for female owners.

Also agree on paint color combination and definite no no with white! Darker the exterior the better imo

If you go Lunar you'll probably (if your OCD about your car like me) be worrying every time any one gets in about keeping it spotless.

I find that passengers mostly just close the doors on the paint and not the door handles, it really annoys, but what can you say??????????

We have lunar silver on our Phantom Black S3 and I really like it. It was actually a result of a botch up by the dealer, the car was in stock at a different branch and all the quotes, emails and negotiation with the salesman said the interior was black. It then turned up and obviously had the grey interior. We got an additional £400 discount and the first two services will be free so I like it even more now.

If I'm honest if we had placed a factory order I would have probably played safe with black but I'm glad it worked out the way it did, nice not to have a completely black interior. We also have the black door and dashboard inlays which helps.

Six weeks in and seats look like new. I would be careful with wet, dark coloured jeans though. I haven't resorted to carrying a towel around yet!

Whilst (as mentioned above) I really don't like those seats, I am wondering whether having the stitching in a contrasting colour such as black or even blue might set them off a bit better. Having the stitching match the seat colour just makes them look bland.

I'm loving the lunar silver but always worry about the staining and grime. It will take some love and attention where as black you can select it and basically not worry.
It's a risk I didn't want to take and besides I couldn't resist the SSS. Just a shame they don't come in lunar....

SSS in lunar with a darker colour would actually be proper nice I reckon.

But what looks nice and what you can live with is always - I'd have had Sepang in honesty. But know in reality it would have needed much love and attention to keep it looking stunning!

    Just a curve ball.......

Have you considered the Alacantra? I actually would never have specced this in a million years but after sitting in a A3 cabriolet at the dealership I was wowwed by its quality and feel. It also seems much harder wearing than the leather. I've had leather like the fine nappa before and after three years it can look quite tired and saggy. It was nice to have the option of a change actually.

Alacantra and mono-pur is a great combo in my book.

Alcantara/Leather is the best option by far. Full leather is an affectation - unless you need it for its ease of cleaning (kids etc), then alcantara looks better, grips you better and isn't freezing cold in winter and scalding hot in the summer.

Alcantara is lovely. I have it in my TT.
One thing I'm not so keen on is that the S models don't have perforated leather/alcantara like the s-lines do.
The perforated stuff always feels better to the touch and looks far sportier.
Will need to get used to a non-perforated steering wheel again....

Yeah I'd agree about the steering wheel......had Black Edition A1 and had this. At least the leather on Audi actually feels and smells right - my 3 series BMW leather is so poor in comparison. Do they actually use leather ? LOL. BMW junk.

The Audi Alacantra / leather seats really are fantastic even though they don't have the perforated option. They do look sporty on the S3 too.

Try and find a car with both and go have a look / feel. I'm glad I did as made me re-consider!

I've got lunar silver in my Sepang Sportback. So far, no marks and looks like new. Absolutely love it and would spec it again. The lunar with the mono.pur makes the interior look very classy and lighter than the usual black hole.

It's funny the way manufacturers are coming up with new names for vinyl. Audi has mono.pur, mercedes Artico, and I guess bmw has a funny name but not quite sure what it is...
I do suspect audi are quite deceptive with the use of leather. My A1 allegedly has part leather seat, but I cannot tell which parts are actually leather. It's definitely not the bolsters as those are too consistent and vinyl feeling. Only suspect is the face of the headrests...

On an audi actually with leather it's a decent quality, one of my mates has a RS Q3 and the leather is nice and soft to the touch as it should be. The S3 I test drove was the same.
