Recently fitted some nice drc alloys to my 11 plate A4 estate.

Now looking to lower it front and rear.

Nothing too drastic just a smidge. Say 2 - 3 inches

Wondered what the best way was. Could I just change the springs. Best ones to get etc etc

I've got 245/40/18's all round. Don't want any issues with tyre rub

Also wondered about getting the engine tweaked a little. Don't need any more power but would love a little more MPG

Really. But arnt the springs and shocks on an 11 plate separate? ?

Also my past experience of coilovers are that of a harsh ride

I vote Eibach (but I'm biased), I'm not very knowledgeable on B8's but B6 & B7 s-lines are down a couple mm as standard so take that into account when buying springs as some quote a lower/higher drop. Would look great around a 40mm drop.

Do you think just springs would do it.

Also would there be any issue with tyre rub ?

Personally get springs and shocks but some people don't think it's worth the extra money getting shocks.

You'll only have issues with tyre rub if you go crazy low but if your worried it's probably best getting coilovers or air ride otherwise you might get a conservative drop which you regret because it's not low enough. In all honesty if I could start over I'd probably go air ride just for the novelty/fun factor.

I'm happy with just springs to start with.

Then maybe change the shocks when I need to

I'm thinking 30 - 40 mm drop

But which springs do I go for ?

What engine do you have?

The Eibach Pro 35mm/30mm springs and the H&R 40mm springs are always a good choice and very popular.
