I looked into this to, they came on Canadian B5's.

The was a post in the A3 forum about a month ago about a guy fitting them to his RS4 i think.

Passenger side for the left hand market, drivers side for the UK.

What's involved for fitting? Does it need to be wired separately, or is it a straight-swap, plug-and-play?
 
Worth a think about, considering my heated mirrors don't work at the moment anyway!
