    Hello there.

My S3 is coming up on diagnostics saying that the 'longitudinal' sensor needs replacing. Has anybody ever come across this problem at all and if so could you explain what it does?!

Best of all if there is anyone who provides them cheaper than Audi do could you let me know? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    Thanks, Carl

    Hi mate

    Welcome to the club

I have the same problem and invested £70 from vag parts for one of the 2 possible options after being told bu audi it would cost £600 to fully fix

My gamble did not pay off so I am looking to either find the parts from a breaker or from vagparts

They have quoted about £280 inc vat which is a damn site better than £500 + labour

If you want to compare notes - PM me on the forum as we may be able to help each other

I have since been told the part is the following:

    longitudinal acceleration sensor 1j0907651a

sounds fancy - dunno what it does but I'm trying to entice a german chap on EBay to send me one to England for 89 euros - no luck as yet, and to be honest I wouldn't know where to find it on the car!

Will persivere since I too have been quoted £400 + /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

    CAREFUL big fella

Already tried the cheaper fix £70 from VAG and in fairness I wasted my money - replacing the sensor behind glovebox

it would appear this hasnt solved the light coming on - it still does intermittently (ABS)

When Audi quoted me £434+vat for the part only I should have realised that its the more expensive bits I need

I'm getting both the ABS and the anti-roll lights on.... again these are intermittent. I'll get it checked out to be sure!

This sounds like a design fault to me
I replaced the longitudinal acceleration sensor 1j0907651a

same as you have been quoted - still get the intermittent light though

Vag parts say I now need

    1J2 907 639 @ £54.20+vat
    1J0 907 657A @ £186.95+vat
    N 011 183 12 @ 11p +vat

I think these are by the nearside front wheel - does anyone know ?
