LOCKS ITSELF!

seem to have the same problem, we got a new key last june and when my wife's keys (the new one) is near the car it locks after about 5mins. But my one seems not to do it!
One possibility:
There is a micro switch in the drivers door lock module, its the switch that locks the dead bolts and turns the alarm on when you use the key lock cylinder in the drivers door.
This switch is prone to failure and the car thinks you are trying to lock the car from the outside key cylinder repeatedly, also the interior lights behave strangely .
If you have access to VAG com you can check it.

Also try looking for water into the convenience module under the passenger front seat. Another favourite ....

The B6 also has a problem with wires breaking in the rubber thing that goes from the front doors to the A pillar.
