Hi guys!

So I put a thread up but nobody replied to it a week ago I think, on my DIS the boot light always comes on when I start the car. Thats the first issue and this happened maybe about a week ago.

Now what has happened today is that when I lock the car with the remote, the indicators don't flash like they have for over a year since I bought the car. The doors and boot lock ok but no signal that it is locked. When I unlock the car the indicators flash like they always have.

Please please please, anybody got an idea what is happening with the car?
First the boot... and the boot shuts fine by the way, now the locking, it works ok but no signal as per the last year.
Is it just a case of taking it in to a stealer?

By the way, fitted new Audi gear knob at the weekend, it was a doddle. Got TT pedals today, pure nightmare... done tho :o.k:

Sounds like you need to replace the boot mechanism. The alarm won't flash unless it's satisfied all the doors are properly closed. If it thinks the boot is open because of a duff microswitch then it won't flash. Quite clever really.

Yep pretty easy to replace too. pull off the boot door card and it bolts off. I took mie off and oiled it the other day. Worth a try. As the switch is inside the lock. There is also a cable which goes to it so you might want to see if the connection is good.

Cheers guys! Much appreciated.

Maybe I only noticed the no flashing today but it has happened since the boot light started?

Ok, so I will try and take off boot card, if no luck with that (Not sure how to do it but I will have a wee nosey) then I will take it to a stealer. They are getting far to much of my hard earned candy at the moment :keule:

So cheers again for pointing me in the right direction

Just replied to your pm fella. Seriously dont pay a stealer to do this. Get a part from them if you must but i am not mechanical at all and i can do it. Id get one from ebay (breaking car) or a breakers yard

I woujldnt mind doing it for you but arent you in cech?

Just sent message back.

Cheers for the help guys. Will get stuck in to it tonight. I have some WD40, maybe need to pop round to a B&Q type place and get that socket you mentioned but with them instructions... sounds like I may be able to pull it off hehehe:o.k:

Will let you guys know how I get on.

Thanks again

Does the boot not work independently from the cl? It does on my 2001 a3. I.e you lock the doors and get a flash and beep with the boot open

Why are you taking a 6 year old+ car to the stealers at all, let alone for such a simple job? They will charge you at least £100 just for an hours labour.
Find a decent VAG specialist and save a fortune.

I am in the Czech Republic..... dont know of any VAG specialists :blownose:

Even if I did, the lingo is a problem and to be hones.... they dont like us "non residents" that much... not saying they all dont like us but generally, they would take more money off you because you are Scottish or English.

Anyhows, so what I am going to do is crack that bad boy open tonight (take off the boot card) and see what I can do. Hopefully fix it. If I cant get it fixed myself then I will ask for a quote from the stealers first.

Going back to U.K. in Feb or March with the car so I could do it then but this DIS is driving me crazy with the boot flashing all the time..... honestly.. driving me :nyah: nuts!

I can open the boot by the remote.... but not lock it independently. If I lock the car, the boot locks. If I open the boot on it's own then the rest of the car does not unlock. If I open the car, the boot unlocks. All this with the remote. I can lock the boot with the key and no mater what I do the CL wont open it. Hope that all makes sense... I think I lost myself there hehehe

I reckon it must be the micro switch as was mentioned before.

That sounds to me like it is working exactly how it should un/lock wise. just no beep.

Let us know how u get on

Hi guys!

Good news and bad....

The good news is that the problem is fixed, only cost me the price of a small bottle of WD-40 and it's all down to yous :respekt:

What I done was remove the screws from the door handle, popped the boot door card off and got to squirt some of the WD-40 to it. Shut the boot and it was still coming up on the DIS. Went back in to flat to check the instructions again in case I forgot something, nope, I didn't. Went back to the car.... no boot open on the DIS! Had to let that WD-40 work it's magic for a couple of mins.

Bad news.... The stealers get nowt off me! :) Not so bad news for me huh.

Honestly, cheers a million. It's the small things that annoy us and with your help, got if fixed. I would have taken it in to get it fixed. So glad yous helped.... not just for the candy saving but the trouble it causes to take it in to the garage and my inability to speak the lingo out here.

Cheers again
