Currently I have a Golf GTI Edition 30 - which as standard has the Light /Rain sensor. I really like the auto lights, but I think the wipers are terrible as they either go on too much or not enough!

I was thinking about speccing this option if I do a factory order - but as my dealer is saying August / Sept for a factory build I'm becoming tempted to take a showroom car or perhaps a 1 year old one (although I really want the new DLR headlamps!).
Is it possible to fit the light sensor as a retrofit?

Also - I never ordered folding mirrors on my Golf as the VW ones barely move. Are the Audi ones any better? Do they fold back 90 degrees to near flat, or do they hardly move like the Golf?

It can be done, but you have to fit a new windscreen as the sensor is stuck to the glass above the rear view mirror.

Ah - I'm not really THAT fussed about it! I was hoping it would be something simple.

Hows about the wing mirrors - do they fold to a decent position?

Folding mirrors don't fold flat and one tends to move faster than the other!

I think you also get the auto dimming interior mirror as part of the light/rain sensor pack which I find very handy. I specified auto dimming wing mirrors as well which go nicely with the pack - not sure if they are standard now as I couldn't find them on the configurator.

I found my auto dimming interior mirror never worked on my Golf as I have tinted rear windows. I think I'd go for the light / rain pack if I'm speccing my own car - but if I'm taking a pre-regged one or an ex demo or something I wouldn't lose any sleep over not having it!

One doesn't have as far to move as you are sat on the right of the car!
