I think this bit might be stretching the theory of potential energy converted into light/heat a little far though...
"The oil is too expensive now, 10% of the fuel used in the car light bulbs. If you switch to LED lights can effectively save fuel"
...Although having said that I've noticed the alternator belt on all my cars has only engaged when I turn the headlights on

Yes its diesel, now cry u lost
the price puts me off... 1 good quality festoon bulb is a fiver and that only has 3 surface mouted LEDS.

I dont think these would work well as a headlight. LEDs might be brighter, but the light off them doesn't travel like a normal halogen, if you know what i mean?
You would need projector lenses at a guess. And Snoopy, all light travels the same way, just needs to be focused. No reason this wouldn't work.
