My 3rd brake light has been annoying me with one bulb not working or another.
Take the light out and replace bulbs of just wiggle and the dead bulb will work again.

Thought about buying the LED bulbs and decided not to. Wanted to do it my self. Bit more interesting and keeps me busy for a time.

The below pics is my LED upgrade.

The unit with standard little capless bulbs.

1st, remove the outer red casing. 4 little clips, 2 on each side.

2nd, remove the reflective strip. 4 little clips 2 on each side.

You can see the bulbs and the thin conductive strip running down each side.
Give each one a wiggle and a lift (gentle like) and it will come pop out.
with out removed I test soldered a 5mm 12v red LED.

It soldered on easy and fitted fine. So I did the other 9.

When soldering the LEDs make sure they are low enough for the silver strip to clip back in to place.

With it all soldered, clipped in and put back together I tested it out on the bench.

It worked, so I fitted it back in the car.

I'll get some night time pics later.

Yup, got a DIS error over the weekend.
    Bugger :(

Time to work out how to get the resistance correct and remove the bloody error.

It looks nice and clean though. :)

It seems a little bit brighter than the normal bulbs.
Can't really fault it just need to sort out the bulb out warning.

Slowly working it out. Just need to get out to the car and test some ideas.

Update on this cause I got it working.

I bought a 501 bulb resister off ebay, wired it in to the light and it all works lovely, no errors and 100% rear lights.

    Happy days.
