I decided to tone down my rear lamps this weekend, and having seen various recommendations - and not wanting to take a can of tinting spray to the Audi - I decided to give some www.lamin-x.co.uk film a go.

It's seriously easy to use and gives great results.

Here's how mine turned out with 'Gunsmoke' film - a 13% tint:

I'm now wondering about some of their blue film for the front.......

you can get pre cut vinyl covers... which i got and includes the squeegies in installation instructions

I figured they might be difficult to line up - and the fact that they'd have to come from America - so went for the universal set up and cut them in situ......

what size did you need? Is it very easy to do? guide *hint* :)

I think I ordered 2 sheets at 12" x 20" - which was more than plenty.....

They came with a knife, very clear instructions and an application squeegee blade.

All you do is:
  • peel the backing off
  • lay the film
  • over the lamp
  • squeegee the air out
  • apply a little heat via a hair dryer to stretch it over the curvy bits
  • then trim the edges
It's that easy - if you take your time.

nice one thanks, should go nicely with the black paintwork :)

Here's a couple more shots for those considering this - which makes me wonder about putting some very light film on my numberplate :meeting:

Yeah I did it on my last car and got stopped about 3 years later..........because my rear numberplate were not of the 'correct reflective capacity' :busted_cop:
