As subject I've got a knocking sound coming from the passenger caliper that sort of makes a 'Chinking' noise when the wheel turns rounds.

I thought it was a stone in the caliper to start with, but it didn't clear. So I've had the caliper off, but still can't see anything.

Any ideas? As it's doing my head in.

Have you cleaned and greased the runners for the pads?

It could actually be a stuck caliper that would need rebuilding or a new one... it's a pain, I've been having a similar problem with a rear caliper but sorted it at the weekend by stripping the pads and giving everything a good clean and grease and putting back together.

Have you had new tyres with stick-on balance wieghts?

My A3 has 15" wheels, and since weights are no longer lead, they're bigger and foul the caliper. I had to have knock-on weights.
