Knocking on the front end.

Hi peeps,


New member so go steady on me lol! Got an a4 quattro sport tdi, and there appears to be a knocking noise coming from the front end somewhere. I originally thought it could be the drop links that were shot but after changing them, it still hasn't solved it. It's not either of the cv's as it's fine when the wheels are turning left to right. I can't work out wether it's from the left or right either. Any common faults with this happening? I'm now guessing it's either the top mounts, arb bushes, or the upper arms. All this easy enough to change for a DIY mechanic with no access to a press?

Could be upper or lower arms

upper arms have a tendency to go and they are notoriously difficult to get off
as the pinch bolt on the front suspension is usually seized
