Hi all,

One day a rotational knock appeared in my S3.
It was very soft and I could only hear it when I start to roll in 1st gear (when clutch pedal is being released).

I thought it was a clutch issue, but after a couple of months getting louder, now it knocks in every gear, clutch pedal pressed, not pressed, revving with no gear, accelerating... So I think my DMF is saying goodbye :(

Here you have a video to hear what I'm talking about. It is the "knock-knock-knock" sound when I first rev up with no gear, and after that when I start rolling.

If I am right and I need to replace the DMF, what would you suggest?

1- A new DMF?
2- Or should I go with a single mass flywheel?

Option 2 is way cheaper, but I don't know if there would be any cons. Would the gearbox and transmission system work fine?

I don't want to save some money but then spend two times that amount to replace other broken/faulty parts...

Anyone here running a single mass flywheel? I read lots of things in different forums but it seems that what works fine for some, doesn't for some others :sadlike:

Thank you!

As far as I know DMF are installed only in Diesels.
