key fobs don`t work to unlock/lock

a3 1.9tdi 2006
the 2nd key fob that is only used now and again the battery went flat ,i changed the battery and it didnt work,so not too bothered as it unlock`s the car and starts it off the key then yesterday the battery of the other fob died so changed the battery and it wont work.I tried the varies youtube videos and suggestions from similar threads on vag key syncing but none of them worked.
Is it because none of the fobs are in sync with the locking system ?



do i need to visit the stealers to sort this out?

Am not sure if youve fixed the problem. but have you used this method: how to program a vw, seat, audi coded key, when new battery fitted, or recoding new key. - YouTube

That's long-winded! The A3 handbook says press unlock on the key, put it in the ignition, turn ignition on then off, remove the key and press unlock again....
