hi there, i have a 3 door audi a3 1999 1.8t which i recently bought, it only come with 1 two button key fob. problem is the buttons do nothing, i have replace the battery with a 2032 batt. i have tried most re sync combinations with no luck!! when i unlock the car i have to put the key in the ignition to unlock the boot and passenger door else the hazards flash repetedly. I have plugged vcds in to find faults with the convienience module but when i try to open the contoller it states 'no responce from controller' does this car have one? i have fault code of 01134- Alarm horn (H12) 49-00 -no communications...:banghead: any help would be appeciated thanx.

Try ' 35 central locking ' with vag com and clear all faults
Your sirens knackered for starters as it should sound with the indicators
Could be it just needs syncing or re coding or it may be the wrong fob

Hi thanks for the reply, ive cleared all codes but that 01134 keeps popping up! How would i no ive got the wrong fob? Also ive tried a load of re syncing ways but none seem to work.

I knows it's a dumb question, but did you use the correct battery in the fob? I recently changed my battery and found I needed 2x 1620 batteries in my fob. I have a 2001 s3 so maybe things at different

Ha ha good question it used to have 1 2032 so i replaced i with a new 1, ill try what you sudgested thanks

do you have any way to check the fob is emitting a signal? if you was local i would be able to sync a spare fob to your car unless there is an issue with your modules. Im breaking an a6 if the parts are interchangable?

Hi @udi a3 may live too far away, i have used vcds to check for a signal in measuring blocks but it reads no signal, so i dont know if its the fob or the receaving unit? Also reading other post somebody tried doing what i did with a working fob but it didnt show no signal either.

Fob should have a part number inside?
Pump seems to be behaving properly so fob would be my guess either not coded or completely wrong
Where about in staffs are you?

hi im in Cannock, I thought it might be the fob, I have ordered a used fob, don't no if it'll do the trick but at least I can check if its the correct battery, I cant find the part number on my knackered fob (last owner must of super glued of it !!)

I'm only down the road then in brereton
If you get a blade cut I can program the key if you need it doing

bump! just received my new key, its from a s reg s3 and it has different internals im guessing this isn't gunna work?

Was this just for a spare key? Instead of buying several fobs thinking they are correct you need to check the part numbers and buy from a reputable seller, preferably new. its going to be a little more expensive, but clearly less troublesome.

What's the part number of the new key
If it definitely came from an 8L it should work there all the same

the fob I bought was 4DO 837 231 and was two button with 2 batteries and my crappy fob has two buttons and one battery ive tried everythink I can think of to link it up, might take my car to timpsons (key specialist) and see if they can sort it out

Bring it round to me I've been playing with these pumps and fobs for years
I'll pm you my number
The one you bought should be correct by the way

finally cracked it, used vcds 35, channel 21 new value 1 then hold unlock button for 1 second on each fob. so happy now, thanks for all your help :rockwoot:
