keeps cutting out

hi all,

I have an Audi A3 1.8T Sport.
I have only had it 2 days, and already i am having to put it in the garage.

When driving at normal speed the engine just cuts out, ie revs @ 0, steering becomes heavy, brakes non responsive.

Any ideas what this could be?

Welcome!

The steering and brakes will become heavy if the engine cuts out as they lose hydraulic pressure.

However the key to this is understanding the reason for the engine cutting out. Would really need more information to help identify the cause of that.

scan for fault codes
last car i had this happen on was a merc
cam pos sensor
would just cut out even if i was doin 30 mph

not much more info i can give. The couple of occasions it has occured once i was driving on a bypass @ 50mph and it just cut out, and the 2 other occasions i was going uphill approx 20mph approaching a junction/speed bumps and cut out.

Every time it has taken a long time to get the engine started again.

fuel filter problems or fuel leak? with you saying it took a long time to start again

Sounds like maf at fault
