Just Had Apr Stage 2 Re-map On My S3

Is the noise starting to get to you mate?
You know how it is mate. I get bored and chop and change my mind every 5 minutes.
Would be nice quiet again for a bit
I put it up for sale on here lastnight and had a couple of enquiries already

Yeah know what you mean. Sometimes the noise of mine annoys me as well, when reversing up my street for example.

Bit of an update on the stage 2 map.

Been back to the tuner this evening and fair play they couldnt help me enought.

Tried a few difference senario's but it does look like it is down to the pump not being capable to give what the map is now asking.

Should be geting my pump tuesday/wednesday and they said get back straight away and we will sort it all out for you.

Cant fault it just hope it all works out like it should :)

Have you changed your cam follower yet?
Just wondering if your cam lobe is alright? I ran Apr stage 2 on standard pump without problems.
Fingers crossed for you mate

Seems strange though that my stage 2 mapped S3 is perfectly fine on the standard pump. Maybe the pump or the follower is getting weak?

There is no point in replacing components blindly. It needs diagnosing properly, logged on the dyno to see what all the parameters are doing. I wouldn't let a car go like this, at least not without a plan of action.

Hi Rick, they dont have a rolling road im afraid, they have run diagnostics etc and there is nothing coming up what so ever.

Checked maf sensor, Dv valve, plugs, etc etc and all that is left is the fuel pump.

Diagnostics as in fault codes? That won't help. Logs need to be taken - that can be done on the road no problem. Something is happening when the fault occurs - ignition ******, throttle closure, requested boost drop, actual boost drop, rail pressure deviation, lambda deviation....

Depending which one of those it is, you can then pinpoint the cause.

Sure does, if the pump does not work then i will get my money back and prehaps take a road trip down to see you Rick.

Fingers crossed i should have it tomorrow. Then into the tuner Wednesday for the 2+ And no hesitation :) I hope

There have been a few threads showing logs that the standard HPFP cannot maintain rail pressure at stage 1. So It's not a surprise that its struggling at stage 2. However Rick is right logs need to be taken to confirm this. I hope it solves your problem.

Ok I guess I will add my 2cents to this thread. As I have tuned many Golf R's, GTI's and S3's local to my market.

From experience, the S3 (only has this engine) seems to be the most problematic with these spluttering problems.
No matter stage 1 - Stage 2+. We came down to 2 solutions one is a cheap fix that works most of the time. The other not so much.

Solution 1 - New Plugs and Either Coil packs F or R8, new plugs BKR7EIX gapped 0.6mm.
If this does not fix the problem. Go on to Solution 2

Solution 2 - You have a faulty injector common on 07/09 Audi S3, replace it with new Golf R injectors, problem solved.

One car no matter what we tried, it ended up being a leaky injector. Even logging did not provide 100% evidence that it could be the cause.
However the value was outside the 5% tolerance of the other injectors.

Even had one Golf R with this issue, his problem was carboned intake valves. Cleaned off, problem solved.

Solution 2 or carbon clean will require intake manifold removal.

Bit of an update,

New pump has arrived so that will be going on tomorrow and back in to the tuner thursday.

Quick question though it came with an RS4 fuel valve, should i fit it because i got it? Do i need it? Will it help or make any difference?

Cheers guys

If you've got the valve, fit it.

You won't lose anything and it will be useful if you go any further and may even help now.

Just the man i was waiting for :)

Cool cheers mate and thank you for all the advise recently much appreciated will buy you a coke on the 21st haha :thumbs up:

Haha bet thats not cheap! where do you get that from?

Last questions, fitting the fuel valve easy job? And where abouts is it located?

I have sources...LOL

The valve is a pain to fit but easy enough for anyone who's done it before.

So everything I was ready was correct it is a pain in the ase.

You have sources??? The local Airport or something?? Lol

.

I know a place that will prepare pretty much any fuel you want.

For a price of course and in any case WMI makes pump fuel equivalent to around 105RON.

Haha Alex your a man of knowledge fair play to you. And like I said I will buy you a coke on the 21st haha.
I have been ripped off a little but though as the so called RS4 valve is actually a standard 2.0t valve so just hope this pump is not the same situation!!

Good luck with the pump

Thank you mate

Good luck getting it sorted mate - I passed GwentVw down on Leeway today - was down that way for a meeting and hadn't realised that's where they were.

Hi guys update which is not good!!

Fitted the pump all good prime's it up and boosh fuel squirting out the side of the pump where the bleed nipple is. Takes it all apart and checks the pioes etc and puts it all back together and again fuel squirting out! Puts the old pump back on and all fine, contacts the guy i bought it off and he assured me its fine take it to a garage and get it checked.
He then rings back an hour later and describes where its leaking and i agree front the front of the pump where the bleed nipple is and ow what luck after 3 hours wasted of my life, when removing the pump his mechanic checked it all over and removed the seal as it was slightly worn and forgot to tell him, which he then sold to me. Has anyone else seen or know of this so called seal as i cant seem to find any breakdown pictures of the pump with a seal at the front you can buy??
Dont know if anyone else can shed some light on this?
Cheers guys

I have read all tho's threads before i started haha,

You see the first thread and it shows you the front of the pump with the 2x specialist torx bolts, its leaking from there where the facia meets the pump housing.
Im sure hes on about that seal behind there has been removed? Why i dont know but its ******* out from there by the nipple.

Yes its a used pump with new internals fitted.

OK....I don't know the seal, but that pump needs to go straight back to the guy you bought it from.

You've had a terrible time with this, and I really do hope it gets sorted......if it was mine, there would be heads on plates by now.

Think you need to get it back to the seller and if he won't refund you I'd take it further.
Hopefully you paid by PayPal so you'd be covered. Alarm bells would ring with me the minute I found out the fuel valve was wrong.
On such an important part that a hpfp is I wouldn't be messing around.
All this has cost you nothing but time and money and hassle over a tuner loading a map that's not doing as it should.
Whether thats a problem with the car or the software its very unprofessional to leave it that way.
Good luck and keep us posted
