2004 2.0TDI DSG Sport. Was 138/140 standard. Took about an hour. The guy who remapped it for me (Did my Touareg 3 months ago) said its mapped to around 180/185 and can get it on a RR this weekend if I want, but there's alot more power potential (he wouldn't recommend it with standard kit) of 200+ if I would put up with a little black smoke on full throttle, but I said no thanks, this is just fine.

He said these engines respond much better than the old 1.9's which were pretty great anyway.

The flat spots have gone and feels very smooth.
    Seems like unstoppable train ;-)

    Happy I did it.

    Regards

It would be interesting if you get it on the RR to see the Torque figures which are probably more relevant than balls out BHP on a 2.0 diesel.

Near where i live in South Wales.
Luckily, he's a mate of someone I've known for Donkeys, and I didn't have to part with 400 notes.
Asked me exactly what I wanted. He mainly does VAG vehicles, and a few Porsches here'n there.
Had an A3 1.8T done at Jabbasport a few years ago, great...but all the power came in one big dollup.
This seems to be smooth and progressive all through the range.

May be its just the derv engine and/or gearbox thats making the difference in power delivery. just seems to pull like a train, but very smooth with it.
Not a sign of black smoke either :)

Anyone in S.Wales area, pm me, and I'll give you details.
    Cheers

I had my lcr mapped at rstuning a few years ago. Before he got his spanky new unit.

Very knowledgeable guy and made my lcr fly!

    sounds good!

Dont want to rain on your happiness but when I had my 2.0 tdi 140 done it bust the turbo and in all I went through 2 after it was mapped and even that was sounding whiney! Boost was checked and well in tollerance so just keep an ear open on the turbos sound, took mine about 1-2 months before I heard a change in sound. Hopefully you will be ok, enjoy it!

has anyone had any problems after REVO on 2.0 TDi?(i.e blown trbos) might be in the pipeline. if it makes half the difference it made to my LCR it would be worth it! reliability is only possible issue.

You can't really say how long the turbo will last after it's been mapped. Tuners will/should tell you that the turbos on these cars aren't exactly bullet proof, when i had my car mapped i was told by RS Tuning that the turbo is under more stress and is the weak point of the 2.0L TDI engine.

My car was custom mapped in order to try and keep the strain down on the turbo, i opted to have it boost harder in the middle of the rev range (turbo has already spooler up by this point) @ 2850 - 3750RPM and not from the point of when the turbo kicks in, this also limits how much pressure is put onto the clutch plates too as my car is DSG.

After saying all this my turbo still went pop after 10K though, in my experience i would say if you are going to get your car mapped then do so, but make sure you have nearly a £1000 in the bank for when the turbo lets go, it will let go and when it does it's costly to repair.
