Aha! I was quoting from the Bentley Ebahn factory manual.

I didn't know Elsawin did any more than list parts.

Yeah - it's much more than a parts list:

I know everyone's mentioned how it improves the handling, but how does it affect the comfort drive? Have a small baby that I don't want to bounce all over the place, but would like the improved handling for when she's not in the car.

It won't impede comfort at all. Your not changing spring rates or damping. All you are doing is stopping the car from rolling as much in a corner. So in reality the ride would be better as the car corners flatter, therefore your not feeling a leaning sensation as much.

Has anyone had any issues with the brackets not having the bolt holes in the same place as the old ones? We went to fit the RS4 bar today and the new brackets don't fit the holes in the chassis?? Will go back to Audi tomorrow and try and see if there are alternative part numbers but I'm a little stumped today? Mine is an Avant I am wondering whether they are different than the saloon?

Interesting find starkey, perhaps the added weight to the rear of the avant over a saloon could mean different brackets, let us know.

Sorry for the dumb question but have you tried them without the bush and roll bar in place?

When fitting for real I found they take some real persuasion to get the bolts to line up.....

Okay, just to update, I went to Audi today and showed them the bracket and bush and compared it to the original from the car. They came back and apologised as the bracket I had was for the front arb not the rear! So they went off to get the correct bracket and used an actual RS4 reg number to find the parts required. When they came back they brought me two new shiny brackets...... with exactly the same part number as the original ones! Doh!

So it would seem that even though the larger bushes are really tight in the bracket the original bracket is the only one they list for all the models.

Oh well, will fit them tomorrow and see how it goes!

Bet you thought you were getting somewhere for a moment there!!!!!

 I think I ended up using G cramps to line mine up before inserting the bolts. :o.k:

Think I'm gonna have to invest in this soon! Took the car today over the black mountains (brecon, South Wales) and it was leaning all over the place!

I fitted this yesterday and wooo it is definitely one of the best mods ever, it makes the car feel so much better in the corners and what it should of felt like from the factory!

Anyone who has an A4 needs to do this if they enjoy driving.

Just had a call from the garage saying that they can't fit this as it's wider than the standard mounting points, it fits one end but wont line up at the other??? Anyone else had this problem? It's going on a 55 plate DTM!

I suspect you need the RS4 mounting points / bushes to accomodate the wider bar. I'm sure the part numbers have been quoted here before.

Did you purchase the correct RS4 brackets and bushes or have you squeezed them into the standard DTM ones?

    Hi Guys,
I've a 2008 3.0tdi Avant. The standard ARB is 18mm, I bought all the parts from audi, £76 all in delivered, bushes, brackets and new bolts. Borrowed a mate's ramp and took 15mins tops to swap them over. The ride is no different to standard, but once you get into the twisty stuff it's a different car, so much more sure footed and flatter. I had my doubts about fitting it, but now can't understand why Audi don't fit it as standard!! As far as I know the front ARB is the same diameter across the range. I then went and got it re-mapped, but that's another story!! just short of 300bhp now, 40+mpg on a run and just awesome power at any speed!!

Hi, A mate did it for me who's in the tuning business, though he mostly specialises in Land Rover products.. My map actually came from Portugal, supposedly one of Europe's top tuners... Anyway, I am really happy with it, the car is just great to drive, not that it was slow to start with!! Just masses of power there instantly. By the way, it's a quattro and the 233bhp model. I also do the two stroke oil thing every time I fill up, that also makes a big difference. Not exactly sure how much it cost me, but certainly no more than some of the other guys out there.. Not sure if I'm allowed to name names on here, but would be happy to pass his name via PM if that helps.. I've not had a dyno readout, but the first map I had was supposed to be 280bhp, and that was dull compared to this one, which reckons to have 30bhp more, with apparantly more if I want it!!!!! I'm not a boy racer, but just like to have that "edge" :)
    Hope that helps, Blackwood.

    What's this trick then?

ALso, do you know how much boost you're now running after the map? Might be worth keeping an eye on oil pressure pipes too, just to make sure. That map sounds strong!

If you put two-stroke oil in the fuel at a rate of 1:200:

"the 2-stroke oil will be absorbed by the diesel (emulsion) and grease every moving part of the high pressure pump and the injectors.
Besides this, the 2-stroke oil will keep the diesel engine clean, as it burnes cleaner as the diesel itself "

Does anyone know what the maximum torque the tip gearbox will take is? Manual may well be ok, but I'm not sure close to 600nm will be ok with the tip.

Thats the impression given by that article, It's a small quantity of 2-stroke so I can't see it giving you any problems. That said I haven't tried it!

Dazmo, The guy that did my map is Gary from TD5 Alive, not sure he'd do it any cheaper for you, but by all means mention my name, it's Paul by the way!! Have a look on his website for contact details. Mine's a tip by the way.. If you want to know more about the two stroke thing, have a look on the Discovery 3 website, it's all there.. I too was Mr Sceptical until I tried it.. quieter, smoother, better economy, less smoke... Apparantly farmers have been doing it for years!!
