I cannot see why not as its a simple spring mechanism similar to the DV if I remember correctly
can someone post a pic-how-to of this? i really think my 10 yr old car can do with it's injectors cleaned but i am not great with my spanners and usually end up breaking something. i would really appreciate more details on how to remove the injectors and where to get the correct cleaning solution. thanks!
Sorry mate I did this on Satrurday but didn't take any pics. My car does feel and sound much smoother since doing it.
It is very straight forward, ive give a quick how to on this thread, no pics though, if i do sombody elses i will do one, or if anybody is just about to do it do one?
Did you clean your 1.6's injectors yet? Any difference?
Ok, so who wants to lend me an ultrasonic bath? Despite mine being recently cleaned I want to give this a go.
And yes I am a tight b'stard
I would mate but you're oop North!
Thanks anyway matey
Anyone else? Pretty please?
If you know anyone who works in the dental industry they use them on a daily basis.
Well you will get some good brownie points when you clean her jewellrey (after your injectors of course..ah)
If I start cleaning her jewellery will she stop asking me to buy her new jewellery..........
Haha, no she'll want you to buy her more jewellery for you to clean. And then she'll tell all her friends and they'll want their jewellery cleaned too. Keep it hush hush if I was you mate
Im gonna try this today.
How did you get to the allen bolts, I can't get anything in past the plastic casing thats blocking them
What allen bolts and what plastic casing do you mean? I'm assuming you mean the plastic bit in front of the dipstick? Have you got any pics?
Move the plastic casing away it just clips off

No, don't worry, I wasn't on about the ones down the bottom, just the two that are holding the fuel rail in place. I read the part about not opening the drivers door, but the fuses (for the fuel pump) are on that side aren't they. Do you think it's worth disconnecting the battery, or is it not a necessity?
And cheers for the pics dave, just had to do a bit of multi tasking to get the both sides off at the same time, (something I'm regularly told I'm not good at!)
Just watch your eyes, there is very little.. pull the FPR with a cloth in your hand and that should be it
I left the rail connected. I just liffed out the injectors and rail together and took the top off the FPR to release most of the pressure and tipped out the fuel from there. As soon as you remove the first injector from the rail fuel will run out so get a bit of cloth ready.
Cheers for the help guys, I have left the rail connected as well. One last question, do the injectors just pull out?
There are little metal clips that hold the injector to the fuel rail. Remove these first then the injector will need a bit of a tug to come out. Also make sure that none of the rubber seal is left inside the hole on the fuel rail when you pull out the injectors.
Anyone want to do a How To with some pics?
I'm cleaning the injector tips on the TDI and Patrol next weekend.
I can take pics of that if people want but they are diesels, so the injectors and fitting it different.
Can someone tell me where the injectors are on the 2.0l A3 170?
Are they easy to take out?
Wrong section mate, sounds like youve got a 8p not a 8l.
i've cleaned my injectors in the newly bought ultrasonic cleaner, did you guys replace both the rubber seals on each injector?
I didnt, but i suppose it would be good practice too....mine looked in good nick to be fair....
Glad you ask, think it stands for fuel pressure regulator but dont know where it is
Fuel Pressure Rail, connects all your injecters i think.
Fpr is on the right of the fuel rail. Stainless cylindrical thingymebob
Ahh, Fuel Pressure Regulator.
I didn't replace the seals either on any of the 3 cars I've done.
If it's any help they sell ultrasonic cleaners in aldi for 20squid they have the same in maplin for £40-£50
Gona do mine at the weekend.
