Can't wait to pick it up, black, s-line, all the toys, just can't wait.

One thing I am looking for a the brushed aluminium door caps, anyone know where I can get a set and also how easy they are to fit?

thanks
John:hubbahubba:

I bought the original audi door caps from audi, or you just have to wait for a set to come up on ebay. Or there are other companies that make copies but cant vouch for their quality.
Personally if its a new 3.2 go with Audi OEM ones.

Mine took about 10 mins a side to change. Really simple.

Here's some taken at the dealers.

How much were the door caps from Audi then, or can you get the same items cheaper from another parts supplier??? Can craigyb get hold of bits like that?

John

Try VAG-PARTS, or see what your local Audi Stealeship can offer you. I paid just over £200 for them, but they really set the car off.

How did you just put those pics up, so I can put up pics of the mirrors for you??

Phil,

Worked fine, and cars looking good!

Like the RS4 Grill, was it hard to change? Does the S line badge fit straight on or was a bit of glue involved?

Terry

PS. I decided not to go for the black out grill!

Why am I only showing white boxes with a red X in the middle???
I have put these pics on a photo hosting site and marked them as sharing with anyone.

How did you get your pics to come up G4JSG???

What are door caps?

Nice, thats got an RS4 grill on it too!! Welcome to the 3.2 Cab club...

Thanks guys, I do like to make my car slightly different from the rest
And sorry to disappoint Cupramax, but mines only a 2.0T S-Line not a 3.2 like yours . . . .

Third time lucky with the photo uploads : ( Thanks for the help James0808)

If they dont work this time I'm gonna :banghead:

If you want before and after pics of the S-Line to RS4 grille let me know and I'll post them for anyone who's interested.

My salesman's face was a picture when I rolled up with the grille on, as he said it was impossible to fit it to a cabriolet!!!!!!

I'm having the same problems with my audi dealer, this spoiler won't fit and that grill won't fit....total idots...even when you give them part numbers they still refuse to do anything.

Via VAGPARTS I'm getting the DTM carbon fibre rear boot spoiler, the door caps and the black-out grill. Also getting windows tinted too.

So the above pics of my motor are the before and then like Phil, I'll post some after pics later next week.

I'll be the bloke with a huge grin at the Audi driver show in just over a week.:hubbahubba: :hubbahubba: :hubbahubba:

Likeing the 3.2 and that cab ain't too shabby .... is it an everyday car or just for weekends ( trying to compare a facelift S Line Saloon TDi v 04 2.5 Tdi Cabby )

John, Have you seen a black out grille fitted?? I only ask as I had a black out and a chrome RS4 grille that I tried before I settled with the chrome RS4 one. Reasons for that were the black out only looked ok when on the car, where as the chrome looked better with the chrome window surrounds and the chrome mirror housings.
And are glad now as have seen an RS4 with the black out grill with chips in it . . . . Not very nice looking at all.

But hey, its down to personal preference. And thats what makes us all different.

Not seen anywhere to get a price of an RS4 grill, and the black-out grill seems a reasonable price........I bet the RS4 is 4 times the price???

SteveTDCi, my cab is an everyday car.
I previously had a B6 saloon, and couldn't believe how much better the B7 version was. The way it drives, the handling etc.

My neighbour has a B6 2.5 TDi cab, and I drove it a while back. My car to his is totally different, just in case people say how can you compare a B6 saloon to a B7 cabriolet. I am comparing a B6 saloon and cabriolet to a B7 cabriolet.

I would def choose a B7 over a B6.

But it all boils down to the fact of what YOU want from your car.
The improved driveability of a B7 or the poser factor of a B6 cab

I sound like Blind date now but . . . . . . .The decision is yours

John, I will double check but I'm sure I only paid £95'ish for the RS4 grill from the Stealership (Audi).

And it may be worth checking but I'm sure I've seen it somewhere before that the rear spoiler needs three holes drilling through the bootlid!!!!:crying:

Terry, the grille isn't too hard to fit. It took about 2 1/2 hours from start to finish, that includes jacking it up and getting the front wheels off.

How you finding the BM over the Audi James???
The build quality is maybe a little better but its very close.
I love the noise and performance of the bm and rwd is loads better, feels more nimble and sure footed.
Miss the low down torque of the TDI sometimes though.
Looks wise i love both.
The most irritating thing is people keep asking me how can i afford a car like that, its not even an expensive car.

John, Just checked and I paid £94.83 for my RS4 chrome grille. The unit price from Audi is £92.75+VAT (£108.99), minus any discount you can get . . . .

Just had a look on VAG-PARTS and the S-line grille is £81.00 and the RS4 grille is £114.73.

Hope that is of help.

Now you have seemingly made it a "no brainer" to buy an RS4 grille, I have 2 questions;

1)Discount - as in barter or do we get club discount?
2)Do you have, or can you get, a really good guide to replacing the grille?

John

Cheers, I like the B7 but for similar money I could have the B6 cabriolet .... me thinks I might go for the saloon and then in a few years get a TT roadster as a second car to replace our current Puma... and in the meantime i'll have my old escort for some fun in the sun !

Glad I could help Steve.

John,

In respone:

1)I just went to my Audi dealership parts dept and just asked what the trade price was and was that the best price they could do. And voila £94.83 later I have a new RS4 grille

2)Changing the grille from the bumper is only 10-12 screws from memory, but you need to take the bumper off to get at the screws(always a catch). That is the semi difficult part. Once the bumper is off its straightforward. I think I have a linky somewhere for the bumper removal. P.M. me your email address and I'll send it over to you.

WOW

Spent about 3 hours on the car today, yesterday it was in having some tints on the windows and tomorrow it's having the wheels done.

So far today I put the new pedals on, new RS4 front Grille and a DTM carbon fibre rear spoiler.

Just waiting for the door mirror caps now and once the wheels are refinished in a black chrome effect it will look fine!!!!

Looks sweet John.

I take it the instructions for the grille I sent were easy enough to follow???

Did you have to drill the bootlid at all or did you just stick the DTM spoiler on??

Yes, they were a great help....a friend also advised me on the bumper level screws too as he's a body shop fitter.

It took around 35 mins to swap the grille over in all and around 45 to swap the pedal covers over, the old ones came off very easily with the help of a heat gun but the new ones were really hard to get on.

The DTM is bonded, which was a little scary flattening the paintwork down but did the job, to the boot lid.

I took it into the wheels specialists today so hope to get it back late tomorrow with 4 "as new" but a bit more stylish wheels. The door mirror caps turned up this afternoon too so I'll fit them tomorrow and that should be all my mods for a while.....well after the K&N panel filter is fitted.

John,

I have heard bad things about the K&N filters, I believe it is something to do with too much oil on the filters which messes up our MAF sensor. I dont know if anyone else can clarify????

Phil,

I've had K&N filters on my lst few cars, TDi and petrol, and not had any probs as I only use panel filters which tend to be less oily.

Tints are 50% all round. The pic above of the nearside profile of the car, in front of my garage, show it now with tints.
