Strange one this,

Went to a customers about 6 ish last night - was there for around 2 hours.

when i left i started the engine and it imediatly stalled. started it again and it was fine. stuck the xenons on and set off. as driving along the needle was jumping up and back down to correct reading as if someone was zapping it.

i could make it go away by turning both my main lights and side lights off.

after driving for 10 mins it seemed to stop

anyone have any ideas?

how about battery/alternator? Or MAF? MAF causes irratic idle. Battery not being recharged and using a lot of power with Xenons in use.

Thats my opinion!

The actual RPM doesnt change (i mean you cant hear it reving)

when i floored it up the slip road to the motorway the needel is doing it then.

all the way home

ill get the alternator checked along with battery - just thought it was wierd it effecting the needle like it did

xenon's don't draw anywhere near as much power as halogen lights, they work on a different principle, its like comparing an incandescent bulb with a fluorescent one.

You could guess all day long - best getting it hooked up to VAG COM see whether it throws up any faults
