Audi : Audi S3 2.0 TFSI HIGH SPEC 500HP redline feature car
Alot of car for the money!
Yep that's Dans s3 (was jonny's) he is in the market for a ttrs I think
Yeh, Jonny's then Dan's.
I don't really understand why you'd do that to a car. Ok maybe there's something to rebuilding a car like that that I don't understand but for the same money wouldn't it have been better to buy something like a Ferrari 575M or a Maserati or something? No matter what you do an S3 is always going to be an S3.
Its all about making the car unique i think but tbh its not really my thing but each to their own i say.
Because that it is a very large portion of why people choose to customise or modify THEIR car. It becomes your car, and their is a strange addiction that can happen. You are drip feeding ideas and changes that gradually builds into something thats as unique as your fingerprint, a bit cliched I know, but true!
When did they say it was a super galatic comet? It will always be an S3 yes, that'll give a 575M a run for its money.
I remember this car when it started out and Jonny used to post up on here when it was in its early stages of tune.
Not where I would put my money but a completely understand the point.
But then again, some of my mates thing that a remap is daft and a waste of money.
Hopefully I will get a little run out in it in a couple of weeks at the next mini meet.
Brown trousers at the ready. If youve ever been out shotgun with Dan then you will understand.
I drove this yesterday and it really is a super car slayer!
Yet you have plans for an aftermarket exhaust and an EVOMs CAI and have already fitted Weitec Hicon GTs. Bit hypocritical no ? No matter what you do to an A3 S-Line it will always be an A3 S-Line.
Its not about what you can buy with the money. Its about making your own car unique and building it to a standard you are happy with.
As said it can become an addiction/hobbie. I'd personal call my issue an addication lol. With all the money i plan on spending i could go buy an S3. But i want to make my car unique with my own little touches.
Yes it will always be an S3, but an S3 that will slaughter most things on the road. And probably no other one in the UK built to run this sort of power.
£26k !!!!Thats nearly Mondao money !
This did make me laugh a bit.
Of course it's always going to be an S3,but one that suits the individual,AND has superb performance into the bargain.
As Iggu's already said, you want to fit an aftermarket exhaust and intake to your S-Line,and for some reason a facelift rear bumper?....so you're customising your own car to suit what you want from it,and you should be able to understand why someone else may want something different.
Thanks for the comments guys this thread is making me chuckle, Il drop the price if the car goes to a caring owner I don't want to see it in the death section by Xmas...
Oh Phil are you nuts or joking lol
You are either modding or your not.
How far is `too far` is purely subjective.
Its about getting the car you want to look and drive how you want.
The tuning game is full of people that have the disposable income to buy something fairly exotic and choose to modify more average cars instead.
Everyone will have a difference in opinion, but end of day its down to the individual how far they want to go with their own car! I think the work done on this car makes it quite awesome.
What happened to S3 Big Andy, he had a big turbo S3 also didnt he?
All went pete tong after his engine went bang
andys went pete tong after going too far with meth injection
I believe it was when the meth was no in use but the timing was not adjusted to take this into account
Its a bit sad as Andy was an okay guy apart from the white sandals n shades in April @ Gaydon
I'm sure Andy would probably agree that racing his car with around 450-500bhp,against an R8 V10 for over an hour at speeds of well over 100mph was not a good idea.
Water methanol mixtures are used to reduce inlet and combustion temperatures, and enable you to run even higher levels of boost....the problem there is that if you are already running the engine close to it's limits, and more so on stock internals, then trouble won't be far away.
Thats one reason that S3-Dan's car with it's uprated internals and lowered compression ratio, will run that relatively reliably.
If,as IanS3 says, the water/meth was not in use,and the timing etc had not been reduced to take that into account, the reason is clear.
Sorry but Andy was an idiot for putting a big turbo on a basically stock engine. That engine was always going to explode without having internals done it was just a matter of when not if. This car looks like it has been done properly so if looked after should last it`s just a shame the aircon has been removed.
Shame really to hear this from someone that's into modding. The 2871 and 3071 are done by TOO MANY people on stock S3 engines and none suffered a loss due to the BT application. Bad news only come when:
1) The tuner doesn't know when to stop
2) The owner doesn't know when to stop
Plenty of 430hp S3s around to prove my point. I feel that Andy's bad incident had something to do with option No2. Went too far with the water-Meth as far as I know. The damage to the engine had nothing to do with too much torque. It's clear from the photos posted here back then. Wasn't the turbo's fault...
Just realised your post Dan Haha if you had the money jonny's Tt would be yours, admit it
haha 575M, it'd beat one of those comfortably. More like F430 territory
Ry, cracks me up
It must be fast Nath...
Well a 575M has 508bhp, but its curb weight is well over 1700 kgs and is has pretty tall gearing, not to mention 2wd.
This S3 is around the 1400 kg mark, with similar power, much shorter gearing and 4wd, and has has posted a 0-60 of 3.6 sec at Audi Driver International , which is 1 second faster then a 575M
Silly fast man...silly.
The problem was clearly a holed piston.
That's the result of extremely high temperatures, and as Andy had said, the car was given a good beating over a few days beforehand.
In this case, the owner didn't know when to stop, and I don't think thats being unfair,as Andy's thread amongst others are what led to me getting a GT3071 running on mine.
The realistic safe limit for stock internals on this engine is around the 450bhp mark, but as we all know,Andy had stretched that a bit and hadnt taken the timing issues with and without water/meth into account seemingly.
I don't know how many 430+bhp S3s there are around, but I do know that most tuners havent done a huge number of them, however I only know of two on the forums that have blown up so to speak, one through misuse, one through neglect of a previous owner.
So we agree
Wasnt arguing!Just saying what Andy did to his that resulted in a piston failing.I can and do see what mikey's saying, and agree with much of what he's said too,as inadequate preparation for high power is also a recipe for disaster.
Any monkey can make a car go fast, but it takes Ferrari to make a car drive well...
agreed, and you're gonna get appreciation on places like here for what you've achieved. but it's a lot of money to spend on a family hatch with a lukewarm engine
i wanted to improve the handling and ride comfort, which it has done. i'm under no illusions that it's a sports car. it's not. it's a front wheel drive hatch that shares it's mechanicals with a Skoda. also the lowered suspension looks better, and tbh that was my priority.
also my sig happens to be out of date. i'm gonna be doing RNS-E first me thinks but even if i did add an aftermarket exhaust my intention has always been to improve it's aesthetics. i wanted a dual single exhaust set up like you get on the A5 2.0T Sportback. i couldn't give a stuff if it makes the car faster or not, and it probably won't.
i appreciate that, but i feel that the money could perhaps have been better spent on something else if it was just meant as a track day toy or a treat for a sunny Sunday morning. it's not that i'm not impressed that someone's managed to get 500bhp out of an S3, just that going by your comments on a recent discussion we had regarding how a car feels, i think there are a lot of cars out there that would feel more fun to drive without necessarily being faster. i used the Maserati as an example - it may not be any quicker around a track but it'd always feel more special.
the dildo gearstick is a stroke of genius btw.
Officialy known as the `Dan Summers` `Central Driving position`
nooo no no its a great car but im not into TTs my next car will be smaller and lighter again
naahh the F430 was pathetic the S3 was missfiring quite badly and still got past with ease id say the best competition so far but still not quite as fast was a white lambo LP560...also my mate on his 2003 GSXR 1000 had trouble keeping up but did non the less, this is why we do this to an S3... !
Almost right mate, its nearer 1300KG taking and weighing whats come out and comparing to the stock 1445kg and the 3.6sec run was one of 3 logging attempts with a passenger about 100kg+ quite a unit of a guy im 110% the car (now running 2 bar with higher rail pressure and uprated in tank pump) will hit low 3s and low to mid 11 1/4
haha that may go with the sale who knows..
Thanks for your comments guys keep it friendly
Noted, and my use of the word "monkey" wasn't intended to be an insult actually, so apologies if it seemed that way....unless of course you are a cute, furry big eared fella!
