I fitted a new jetex filter today but i cant find anywhere to fix it down :(

I used cable ties to hold down the last one but this one is a different shape and there's nothing near by to tie it down to .

Also it looks a bit smaller than others I've seen on here but the measurements are Top=100mm Bottom=160mm Length=150mm:

Any ideas where to tie it down to?

I used, as mentioned one of the MAF to air box mounting holes, I made a bracket from there down to the hole where the air box is secured down.
I used 4mm rubber to make washers to dampen any shock/ vibration to the MAF

Did you buy the car specific kit or the universal filters and just matched the neck size? Think the specific ones are always a bit smaller? Plus if you`ve been looking at filters fitted to S3`s then they`ll be 3" neck size so a large filter on a whole too im pretty sure.

On the gf`s Leon i made a bracket using one of the standard airbox holes in the bodywork and using the holes in the maf housing to attach it too the bracket.

My car don't have a strut brace and even if i did i don't think it would reach :(

Ill have another look at it tomorrow and see what i can come up with.

What did you guys make the bracket out of ?

Alluminium strip from B&Q which was about 3quid for a meter.

I used mild steel and twisted it to get a good fit, The weight isnt much over alloy realy

I guess they would yes, But i wouldnt use something that thin as it could easily break on any bends you make.

That filter is properly tiny!

Mines an 80MM inlet, which goes into an 80mm coupler and then an 80-70mm reducer.

Also using the MAF as the support the filter is a bad idea IMO, I'd always mount the filter as apposed to the MAF to take the pressure off it. Don't know why, just doesn't seem right.

Ok ill see what they've got when i get there ;)

Get your self a heat shield 2 birds one stone.....

I was going to fit a heat shield a while ago but from what iv read they don't make much difference.

Has anyone got any pics showing their bracket?

Hmmm....

What part number is yours?

From looking at the measurements on the jetex website, it seems like mine is part number FR-07008.

:sign_plug: (Sarcastic + naive voice) And where can we get those from Dave?

I forgot he did them....LOL

Mine is FR-08001.175mmx140mmx172mm

I think your one is rated up to 410bhp where as mine only goes up to 320bhp (don't think ill be making that....lol).

Has anyone got any pics showing the brackets they have made?

So using the heatshields that everyone has which the MAF bolts to is bad in your eyes too? no ones reported issues so cant be as bad as what you think it is..

I'd always suggest mounting the filter as well as the MAF, it's best to have it all as solid as you can. I mis-typed there, I missed a "just" out.

I've seen people just ziptie the maf back and things, and with the forces the TIP goes under with all the shaking around it can disturb the probe and cause premature failure. For the hassle of mounting the MAF AND the filter you may as well do both. I certainly wouldn't want a filter the size of mine just hanging off the end of my MAF.
