Welcome to the man boost club.
Laura says Yay!
Brilliant results jay, all that hard work has payed off
Thought you was paying me a visit Jay!
sorry Jo I didn't even leave rtech till just gone 6. I only got back to mine after 8. After using public transport for 3-4 hrs (can't believe it cost me like £100) to get to rtech from Kent, I just want to get back home. Deffo next time I'm up that way Jo I will swing by
I am getting a little bit of a bouncey rev counter when idling. Niki reckons the yellow top injectors could cause this, and also suggested cleaning the throttle body. We only cleaned it last week though when the inlet mani was fitted. It's a noticeable bounce from 800 to 600 consistently.
Why are you idling???
4k at least, at allll times! Drive FAST
No worries bud, was just kidding, we'll wait until the next mini meet, preferably in warmer climate!
wish I could, stupid m25 traffic as always.
No codes for faulty throttle body mate?
No fault codes. It becomes more stable after its been warmed up and driven. Still get the idle bounce but not as frequent.
On another matter, I was close to buying a wmi kit, but before that I went to see Ben and Reesy. Just to catch up and also took Reesy for a quick spin. It's picks up really well but only as long as I slowly press the throttle. Reesy noticed that my clutch was slipping. When I plant my foot down in 3rd, 4th or 5th the clutch slips at 3.5k - 4k. I will be upgrading the clutch and flywheel. Just waiting on parts and when Ben can squeeze me in for work.
The clutch slipping is the result of the increase in torque?? I thought oem clutches were good till around the 300tq? First time I've experienced clutch slip so be gentle!
A remap will magnify weaknesses, so its prob not an educated guess that it was on its retirement year anyway..
just unlucky I think Dave. The clutch isn't even 2yrs old
Time to get something a bit more meaty maybe mate.
Did you have a race with Reesy?
Left him standing
ABF flywheel, VR6 clutch kit. Get them bought mate!
Hoping to have a g60 flywheel fitted, but waiting to hear back.
In the meantime it was a busy day at work, only got a little bit of time at the end o the day to fit my spark plug cover. Cosmetic but sort of provides shielding from a not very hot manifold haha..
got this from someone I know in stainless steel and sprayed it black (had hi temp satin black paint left over)
apply my go faster stickers on and bolted this all in
smartens it all up imo
New header tank from gsf, about a tenner and makes all the difference.
Whilst you're there, yet a gsf s2000 filter, its black and yellow nd will look 10x better

Mind reader! Already got the tank to go in, will fit along with the set of yellow dress up pipes sfs sent me. This was the only filter gsf had in stock unfortunately
Another week and gone by and also a small update today.
Brought a Hid kit off trups and scittb5 in the recent group buy. (Nice one lads)
35w 6k slim ballast kit
Followed the guide in the stickies for the 8l. Little tight fit especially the battery (even more reason to relocate it to the boot)
Old vs New
one at night but didn't come out too well
i have set this to lowest I can using the adjuster switch next to the headlight switch. Is there anything else I can do for alignment as I'm worried it still a bit high??
That just confirms my lights is a tad too high lol
Another weekend and another trip to see mr parsons and reesy
front pads and my ATE discs have seen better days
scored some new discs couple days earlier at a reasonable price
Looking sporty! Hopefully they will work well.
ben also fitted an s3 front anti roll bar. The s3 bar was thinner than my a3 one but its positioned differently. The a3 ones goes over with shorter drop links, but to fit I would adjustable drop links. However Ben noticed on my suspension set up that I had the necessary tags where I could use the longer drop links. £16 of the bay I couldn't complain!
First thoughts: braking needs a bit more time to bed in, handling does feel sharper!
i have been advised I need to source braided brake lines as the current route could cause a little bit of rubbing, if I get braided hoses I can re-route it better.
What are the benefits of braided hoses?
Need to change my front wishbone rear bushes. Should i go Oem TT or powerflex?
Massive thanks again to Ben. Cracking work as always
I imagine youl have a bit less understeer witb the thinner front bar??
Get the solid TT rear bushes. Lemforder on ebay, about £22.
Nice discs you tart
Braided hoses will improve pedal feel as they won't expand like the rubber ones.
Got me some braided lines on order currently. My pedal is f'king shocking! As SK said get solid Standard bushes, perfect inbetween spec and won't fall out like some have reported with poly bushes. Might aswell get poly front bushes though.
Clutch will be hopefully be this Friday coming.
these the bushes you on about Karl?
Got to make the car look fast even though it ain't Westy!
Im looking at brake lines but got few choices, who have you used Jason?
Do you not know how to bed pads in Jay?
Careful driving and expecting the brakes to get better is not the way to bed pads in.
You should be doing hard as possible stops from 100 down to walking pace them as quick as possible accelerate up to a ton and repeat that process until the pads stink and are smoking. Which on road pads is usually 4/5 cycles and on race pads more like 10/15 cycles. Once the pads smell like arse and have been raped to death drive for a reasonable distance without touching the brakes at all to allow them to fully cool.
If you were able to view the discs during this process you would see pad material transfer to the discs and the color change from bright silver with a criss cross pattern from machining to a light grey surface with concentric scoring rings on the discs.
The aim of "bedding in" brakes is to transfer a layer of adherent pad material to the discs which allows them to perform at their best in an even and controlled way.
If you just gently touch the brakes and take it easy the pads will remain in an abrasive state and will just score the discs, resulting in a **** brake for the life of the discs and pads.
Thanks mate, yea I did a few cycles of 70 down to walking pace
theyre the bushes jay!
TT bushes bought (thanks Ben)
ECP TT bushes. Cheap enough to try! Plus a 25% discount code on top of that. Result! If they aren't any good then I will look into poly bushes.
jeeez thats cheap!
they'l prob be the same ones.
ben knows some bargains!
Ordered some Hosetechnik`s from Awesome. Made by Forge and siliconehoses so should be decent quality. Decent price too with free delivery. Think they were 62ish for the S3.
I looked at those hose technik ones. Did you also buy a special colour one too?
They`re made to order as Awesome phoned this morning to let me know that it would take about a week to get in and asked what colour i want. I just choose black though as i want to keep it looking standardish under there.
I will check it out, what was the lead time awesome quoted you?
Said it takes about a week then they`ll get them out asap.
Tried getting in touch with them but 3hrs later they still cant give me a price...
might try these:
