Cheers mate, still got an issue with the car. Currently running it with the N75 unplugged.
No not done the arb yet, kind of put it on the back burner for the moment. Focusing on that extra bit of power first. Have you bought a kit yet?

I had 4 rings come round last week to check over the car and see if they can figure out the boosting/idling issue i have been suffering last few months. They took it for a spin and the problem didn't occur. not once! Now all 4 rings could find was the throttle body was reading slightly off. So thats a starting point...

They ran block 4 on vagcom
    Idle was 1.7 Degree's
Foot all the way down and it went to 83.8 degrees but still said part throttle.

I found a spare throttle body at my brothers garage and thought it was worth a try. Cleaned it up with carb cleaner and it looked spanking new! Fitted it and plugged the vagcom back in

Idle was now at 2.2 degree's
Foot down and it went still went to 83.8 degree's
Reset the values and took it for a quick spin. First impressions, the throttle was more responsive.

After a mile or so the boost cutting out happened, where it caused a lot of juddering. The rough idling also played its part...
I think the new throttle body helped bring the problem to light. On previous occasions every time i took the car for diagnostics it never played up making it harder to work out what the problem was.

Unplugged N75 and the idle was more stable. The boost cutting out was still there but not as often.
Left it at 4 rings again yesterday and finally they were able to experience the problem. They had monitored the figures while taking it for a spin and noticed that the lamba said there was no oxygen. When the idle started to play up the MAF readings were at 30g/s while sitting at idle.

4 Rings were adamant it was the MAF (Yes Benjamin you were right all along! Sorry i didn't listen to you earlier)
Changed it all over and its performing how it should if not better!

From one problem to the next!
Recently i have been getting a rattle from the exhaust when going over speed bumps. Thought it was the hangers knocking against underside of the car so i thought i would take it back to AMD who originally fitted it for me. It went on and off the ramp 3-4 times tweaking the pipe work each time. They came to the conclusion that my back box was buggered. With the miltek under warrenty AMD have put a new one on order and will be fitting it next week! Very good service i must admit from both 4 rings and AMD.

Now i can start having fun and enjoy the car again... i hope!

I agree mate, at first i didn't think they would be able to figure it out as the car was so temperamental with when it wanted to play up.
    So far so good!

Mate they made 2 visits to my work place then took my car to find a wiring issue that was stopping my alarm from working correctly. Dean had half the car apart and managed to find a wiring fault and fixed the problem. They just don't give up and are very good at fault finding. At the end of the day they were all Audi mechanics once along a time.

Last week i have been without a car... :(
Routine trip picking up the misses just before i turned into my parking spot the car is stuck! Wouldn't budge one bit, hand brake lever stuck down. On inspection it was the rear brakes that was the problem... Somehow the bottom carrier bolt had come off! (no where to be seen) That then caused the whole setup to come away from the disc, it had angled itself so the pads sat fully engaged, then because the carrier was pushed out, it caused tension on the handbrake cable which is why the lever would move. Luckily no damage to the handbrake cable, all i needed was a new bolt. Ordered from audi and 2 times the part sent was wrong. First the bolt was for the caliper, then the second time the bolt was too short. Few days later the right one turned up and was fitted in 2 minutes.

Not much work done to the car this weekend...
Headlights started to look very old and tired so i thought i would give it a clean
    Before: looking yellow and blurred
    [IMG]

After: Used polishing compound and some elbow grease (Temporary fix)
    Cleaned up a treat! :yahoo:

I also managed to grab a set of these rs4 reps for a bargain. Another project to get them refurbed with new tyres for early next year.
Went to wash the car yesterday and found that some bugger has ripped my wrap! :motz:

Not Happy! although some light has come from it now... showed my brother, he wasn't happy either as he spent a lot of time helping me do the wrap... He said we can either re-wrap it or re-spray it. Then the dream words came out "Just choose a colour" :yahoo:

Someone on here recently posted shots from a meet/show they had been too and i found the colour i want!
Question is how do i go about finding the exact colour code/mixture? It looks like it has a matt/satin finish to it as well... Ideas?? :sos:

that s3 looks *** sick though, id love you to do it that colour, and have your wheels black, or metallic black.

nice work on the lights too, im doing mine this week as a temp thing too, before i get some lamin-x to finish them off with

    Gutted bout the rip mate.
Like I said before, that never would have happened with Plasti Dip. Easier to fix as well if damaged. :ninja:

I hope you're quicker than reesy with them wheels mate.

Karl, Plasti dip it..................I'll get my coat!!

    Remember to lather, rinse, repeat.
No mods done or at least mentioning. Finally fitted mk4 aero arms. Turns out the wiper regulator is also on its way out, regardless what speed setting I put it on it was super slow. Thanks to Reesy I have a another to fit in this weekend. No plans for the motor at the moment. Maybe I should get my ass in gear and get down to rtech

Winter is a season i struggle to want to do anything! I decided to pull my finger out and do something to the car otherwise they may actually rename my thread to westy's previous post! Just biding my time till i go to Rtech after the new year. After seeing the job tuffy did spraying his charge pipe in satin black i had to do the same - Chrome fmic pipes is horrid! There are only 2 visible IC pipes but i thought since the car is on the ramp and bumper off, i thought why not paint all the pipes i can.

Wet & dry (P600) and mask up the ends
    [IMG]

Sprayed 1 layer, dried in 15mins then i sanded it again as there was running paint (Poor spraying on my behalf, i may have applied it a bit too fast) Anyway sprayed another layer to finish it off
    [IMG]

Fit all back in and job done
    [IMG]

    Close up

It's high but only touches bonnet lining, bonnet closes fine. I will chop the pipe a little more but it's very tight there at the moment. I will look at losing the puck to free up the DV that bit more first. Ideally I would like to have custom piping along with a dv relocation kit.

If Jay is not going to post, I will. It's not as exciting as any of those.. It's for the FMIC pipework to replace the pipe Jay currently has.. Or at least that's the official line he has told me.

Haha sorry to disappoint... It is as boring as Reesy says... Hoping to have a better fitting pipe as the current one sits too high and very tight.

Its been a very quiet winter for me, now its starting to warm up its time to get my arse into gear

I thought i would start with the little bits that have been bugging me
I had installed a boost gauge a while back but the LED bulb was always too bright, the reflection was on the driver side window which restricted view

    Before
    [IMG]

I tried Tinting the gauge but it looked horrible. As the gauge has a curved surface, getting the tint on proved harder than i thought. Decided to scrap that idea and go for a resistor. I chose the 1k2 resistor from maplin's for 32p and worked a treat

After 2 years i thought it was time to service my 007p, i ordered the forge kit which came with the revised piston.

    DV apart:

    Pics before service
    [IMG]

Cleaned up - i also experienced the same wear as S3Paul did in his recent thread
    [IMG]

    Old v New
    [IMG]
Results are a positive so far... The DV is sharper and feels very stable

Its only taken me 2-3 months but i was offered a Manifold which had been ported...Result!
All booked in with Ben at Parsons Performance (Great chap and i must applaud his work ethic)

    Old Manifold
    [IMG]

While i was there i got a boost leak issue sorted (Ben actually spotted a split on the N75 pipe)
attempted to re-fit the fmic pipe as it sat to high causing it to rub against the bonnet... I had ordered all the pipes (as reesy posted above) for Ben to weld. He did a cracking job, unfortunately someone had brought the wrong length pipe so it was a bit short. Back to the original pipe until Ben can weld up a new one for me...

Next up was PCV delete and fitting a catch can
I brought one of these ebay cans about a year ago and thought it was time to get it fitted.

Thanks to Dave for producing some quality Stainless steel 19mm pipes!

I will have this setup to vent to atmos, i had ordered some oil grade 19mm internal diameter pipes. Instead of 3/4" they sent me 5/8" pipes so Ben had to make do with pipes i had lying around to temporarily fit the catch can.

Took the car for a test run and you can feel it feeling stronger through the mid range. It just seems to flow really well. Over the Moon!!!

Car is all booked into Rtec for Stage 2..
I have just brought 305cc yellow top injectors from a Vauxhall calibra (Part number:0280150420) and a 3" VR6 MAF (Part number: 021 906 462A) Nick reckons this will help so worth a go...

Just a Note - the wiper motor from a facelift does not fit. The connection is different. I did take the existing one apart Steve and re greased before but the bearing was actually worn, when it wipes the arms not only rotated but also moved in an up position. Luckily I found another motor from a previously scraped agu in the garage. Running sweet now.
