Cheers for that, I have joined them on fb so will follow that.

Got in it this morning, drove to work and it was perfect. No misfires, solid 20psi held, decent fuel consumption and generally as though nothing was wrong with it.

Weird car, Nick always tells me it will have its on and off days but I just want it like it was this morning every day haha!

That turbo on ebay is just a copy K03.

Look at the size of the compressor/turbine wheels, they're completely standard k03 sized wheels.

Also, what does Windows 7 have to do with logging anything? I log things fine with my Windows 7 laptop, on an ebay cable.

My USB interface doesnt seem to work with 7, it always says port status ok interface not found. Fair enough I have a crack version of VCDS which came with my bluetooth obd dongle, but the same file worked perfectly on my netbook which now as a broken USB port.

Works fine on VCDS Lite with windows 7 though?

Try running it as an administrator?

    Is it 64bit 7?

Might find 32bit XP inside Virtualbox will do the job if so.

Well, after speaking to my dad and telling him for years he's full of poop I decided to put a fivers worth of diesel in, a bottle of STP injector cleaner and a brim full of V Power. Gooned it the 10 miles home on A roads, and after 5 mins it was going really well. Properly flying, not screaming like a baby anymore and is much smoother and using less fuel.

Fingers crossed it hasn't just decided to work and when I get in it tomorrow it will be the same.

Well, day two of the diesel treatment/STP injector cleaner and it's going REALLY well.

No noisy turbo, a smooth pull and very solid power even at 20PSI. Maybe the injectors were just filthy. Haha

    Placebo effect?

Did you not just think about taking the injectors out and cleaning them, rather then putting diesel in?

Can you remember how much faster my 205 GTI felt when we fitted that air filter? I swear it was actually slower, but it sounded immense.

Do you know why you shouldn't walk round the Ukraine in Y front? Cos Chernobyl fall out!

I have yes, it drives much smoother than it did with a 007p. Fair enough, my 007p has too weak a spring in it but I have been suffering from overboosting and was finding it very difficult to modulate boost by coming off the throttle (probably due to my spring being too weak). If it overboosted I couldn't just let off the throttle until the boost got down to a safe level, when re-applying the throttle I'd get a judder or a misfire which would continue to red line. But then if I changed either up or down a gear all would be fine. Where as with the atmospheric and no manual boost controller the drive is much smoother, I think the little bit extra lag fits in with my map better than a cold side recirculation.

People are saying things like my idle will be lumpy and it'll put it in soft limp mode, but I did 30 miles with it on this afternoon and I have a perfect 900rpm idle and it's driving perfect. But I'll run it until Christmas and then I will have a play with the tuning springs for my 007p and get a good setup. But this is a certain improvement from a 007p with a soft spring.

But do you not think it might be a good idea to get the car running correctly instead of just changing things all the time?

Have you got a boost guage? Just wondered if it has dropped off a bit?

The engine should idle ok (but this is subjective dependant on far too many factors) but remember that the BOV is open on idle so you are drawing in unmetered air... on a non wideband ecu then this could make the AFR leaner than expected as the intake is taking in more air than the ecu is seeing... the lambda will adapt of course on idle and cruise..

BOV related issue manifest themselves as stalling when dipping the clutch (as you have essentially given it a vacuum leak), over rich mix on gear changes leading to multiple misfires as the plugs are saturated with fuel and hesitancy on spool too..

Even if you are not experiencing these symptoms yet they should not be discounted... BOVs on a 20v running Bosch ECU and MAF are just a no no...

Yeah, I've got a boost gauge. If I put my foot down I'll still get a peak of 28PSI and it will hold 24psi literally to the red line assuming I haven't got the MBC wound in, the one thing I will be willing to bet my life on is that there are no boost leaks. I never let it get to 28PSI really though, it's just the odd occasion when I forget because I've been driving things at work all day haha!

I usually have the MBC capped at 24psi peak, it will hold 22psi until 5700RPM but it will never drop below 20psi until 6500RPM but that's depending how the MBC is set. -

The MBC I have is not very good (despite costing an arm and a leg) and I think the ball and spring inside is either too weak or too stiff, because it will sometimes fluctuate if I ask it to hold full boost for long periods. Hence wanting to do away with it and go by the throttle.

However, when it is warm and being driven hard it gives a solid 24psi peak and 22psi held regardless of the MBC. IE, if it's being driven hard it is faultless and needs no boost control.

From fuel logs and MAF logs the car is running fine, and in terms of power it is brilliant. But I keep getting this funny misfire if I have been on and off the throttle, if I am say sat slow moving or stop start traffic it will misfire under boost. Or if I put my foot down on an A road and a car pulls out, I let off and then reapply it won't want to get up and going. But then give it a minute or two and it's all fine.

To be honest, I think it's my £30 MAF more than anything!

Your MAF wasn't £30. It was £90 at ECP, and it ran fine on my car, but it did always give strangely low g/s readings

I've just done another 30 odd mile round trip, with a fair bit of hard driving and it's really good.

It IS smoother than it was with a 007p, don't know how or why but it is. I'm quite chuffed with it really, I hate the noise but otherwise I can't see what all the fuss is about.

Did 30 odd miles in it today with a fair bit of harder driving, it's ben the first dry ish day since I fitted the new wheels and tyres. It is going really well.

Since the diesel and STP treatment it hasn't misfired, and with the DV26 it is going pretty well :)

I've never heard it before, so I took a quick video. Also I wanted to see if it smokes on boost, it doesn't :) -

And a quick pull to the top of second off my phone.

You say that, I have had the day from hell.

Woke up this morning to find this -

In my passengers door, I parked next to the steps that go down to the road from our terrace. I heard somebody drunk outside talking about a bike last night, but didn't think to look. There were skid marks on the steps and I can only assume that somebody has drunkenly tried to ride down them :(

So then I went to work with Lou, a bit pissed off. Left her work and my drivers front tyre was flat. :(

Pumped that up and drove it back, and half way home I got a phone call from Motorsport Vision saying Brands Hatch has been cancelled :(

On the plus side, I've just got a quote off a good friend to respray the door, fix the rust on the bottom of the drivers door and respray the keyed areas for £200. He's ****ing good as well.

Basically I'm ranting about not wanting to have a car down here in Plymouth.

The house the woman and I have is on such a ****ty street in such a **** area that no matter what car I have it's going to be smashed up. It's happened to the last two cars I've owned whilst living here. I just walked to the co-op and literally watched a kid kick a car as he came out of his house and just walk off.

Having always been a country man until I moved down here I never knew that c*nts and ****ers congregate in built up residential areas. Not sure I can even be arsed to own a car down here any more, I don't need to own a car because I can easily commute to work/town/friends on a bicycle like I used to. I might as well move the car back home and keep it as a track toy where it won't get ****ed by c*nts.

Bedford was good. I'd rather do a different track but don't mind Bedford again. Brands on the 25th is good for me.

Have you set the port setting in Device Manager? You need to right click on the interface and choose the port you want it to set to.

Spent the day at Prawns working on cars.

Started off by trying to gauge what my new wheel was going to look like -

My car was feeling a little slow on the way there, and I was just generally f**ked off because I thought "great, it's been f**king perfect for ages and it's choosing to have it's odd bad day when I am at Prawns having banged on about how rapid it was for ages...Guh!"

The job for the day was to sort out the knocking from the rear, straighten the exhaust and fit a new clamp and look at the front hub which was knocking about.

Went to undo the rear top mount, and the bottom bolt was MILES too long and took literally half my life to undo, which was a bit gimp. Then trying to undo the two top mounts they were ROCK SOLID and wouldn't move, which was well annoying. Having bought a new top mount and done half the work as well as driven an hour I wasn't going to get to do it today. Rubbish!

Did the monster bolt back up and it bottomed out, so it wasn't the top mount at all it was the HUGE bolts solder being a mm too short. So off it came again (literally, the other half of my life undoing it) and then we couldn't find any suitable washers so we used an old nylock ball joint nut to space it out. Another million hours of crawling about on the floor later it was all back together and looking swish.

So then we jacked it up to fix the exhaust...

    Old manky wonky look -

New nice and straight look -

I have some crazy screaming noise coming from my car, and it goes away when it's SUPER hot. Turns out it's the 1/42 scale Grand Canyon model set that's been built into my 250 quid THS Hi-Flow exhaust manifold, a tidy install if I may say so myself -

At this point I was ready to kill anybody within a 5 mile radius. So I went inside and Prawns mum made us some amazing buffet lunch with awesome roast potatoes, she is awesome.

We were getting pretty f****d off with working on my piece of ****, so we jacked it up to look at the wobble in the front hub which was the final job. Nick tried tightening up the hub nut which was already FT. Turns out I've got a wheel bearing gone AND a shagged track control arm too. YEY! :D

We got bored and wrote badges on the back of our cars -

We went out for a hoon in my car, and got a couple of videos but it was all a bit too windy. Sounded good though and was really strange but nice to see somebody else driving my car hard.

So we went out in Prawns car, which was cool. Got a mile down the road and head a massive clunking and then what sounded like a huge stone smashing under the car and going down the road. Stopped at the side of the road to check it all out, couldn't see or feel anything so carried on back down the road to see what it was. Nick was convinced it was a metallic sound and it felt like something dropped from the engine bay. Couldn't see anything in the road so we went for a hoon. The way that thing can go round corners is incredible, the brakes hurt my face and the platform is just SO tight. It's amazing, honestly you wouldn't ever believe it unless you went in it. Shame it's slow as f**k (comparatively speaking to what it was) and the turbo is full of holes, but on the plus side you never have to brake for anything!

Got a mile further down the road and I heard a ticking noise, we were all a bit confused and nothing apparent would make it stop. Turns out this was the problem -

A driveshaft bolt had come loose, the locking tab had flipped round and was smashing up the gearbox. Oh noes! I robbed a pair of bolts and a locking tab off Nicks mums A3 and we cracked on with it, finding a loose steering rack along the way.

Ghetto ramps made of chopped up boat masts!

We bolted it all back together, and I cleaned a quarter of one wheel and the odd spoke then off we went for a bit of a hoon.

Prawns car is fun, I can't wait for our drive to Barnstaple on Saturday!

    The twins together -

    -

So, my new plan is take the car home in Jan when I WAS going to be doing Brands Hatch and throw it on the ramp and do EVERYTHING. In the mean time I'll buy an AGU manifold and port it myself. :(

    Cool day today.

Fitted my new steering wheel and gave the car a good wash and hoover.

It needs buckets, harnesses and stripping so bad now! The steering wheel is my constant reminder that my car NEEDS stripping and to be a track slag!

Amazing what difference a steering wheel makes to a car, currently it isn't great because I need an inner track arm but the car doesn't feel so lazy without a big leather clad dinner plate for a wheel.

gave it a clean, which was nice. Will give it a proper wax this weekend I think :)
