Excuse me for asking bro, but have you sped that video up for first and second? Revs drop mightily quick, what flywheel are you using?

I think that was on the Kempen Autobahn when the engine was about 220 brake. 173 on the clock.

Ahh flat shifting, explains. How long have you had your WOTBOX, friend of mine has just had to replace his exhaust valves and swear it is due to the WOTBOX. Prawn seems to think they violently shake the car when you change but yours looks smooth.

Iv had it since july so that's about 15000km or so? It depends how you set the sensitivity of the clutch signal of the wotbox, my mates one felt like I hit a wall every time I changed gears, then we set it like mine and now its smooth, iv had no issues with wotbox yet, the UNITRONIC tuners here all swear by it

    He means MPH :)

I might try a WOTBOX, could I be cheeky and ask you to video the launch control from outside the car? Thats the part which interests me.

I have got an official list of 0 to 100 times, mine is quicker than a S2 Lotus Exige :)

I have deactivated it bud, its really shyte for k03 it just spins, the only time I would have launch control activated was if I had a GT30 turbo range cos then you need it spooling up for launch.

It also sounds sh1t and if you keep it reving longer the 5 seconds engine light comes on!

Your car is heavy strong if its quicker then a lotus

well I won't help you fit it, and I doubt you could do it yourself, so hopefully you'll give up on that plan.

Might give it a miss then, R Tech can map me in launch control anyway so will just do it that way.

Mine comes as 12.4 on GPS, so not bad when you look at those cars. I think the new car may be quicker slightly, but more power is more wheelspin haha.

its true, if it can't e done in less than a day, using an adjustable spanner and a multi tool on the side of the road, Jardo won't touch it and leaves it for me or his dad, or his new more local saviour, Phil Miller

    Lol you mong.

I do loads of work myself, but it isn't easy to do work down here with axel stands when you have always had a nice heated workshop with a ramp and every tool you need.

fair enough, I've never had that luxury, so freezing cold on the driveway on axle stands is a bonus to me! Being inside working on cars feels strange! Although I'd love a garage to work in :(

He's right Nick, unfortunately once you're used to working on a car in a workshop it takes some serious will-power to roll around on the driveway in the cold. Still perfectly do-able, but it's definitely more of a chore once you've experienced using the proper kit!

Can't wait to get working full-time so I can hire my own workshop. (That is assuming I don't have to move out to find decent work, be a while yet if I do!)

A small update, but an update none the less.

Old parcel shelf was minging and stained and horrible. One of the straps was snapped and it made me cry thinking about it being all wonky when I lifted the boot. Weirdly it smelt too.

So I hosed it down, sprayed it with interior shampoo and hoovered it off.

Used a lint roller to pull all the bobbles off and shaved it like you do alcantara seats.

Then I sprayed it satin black with a rattle can.

It came out really really well, so I'm going to do my side pillars tomorrow.

There will be a fairly major interior update soon. :)

    An update! :)

It's cold and wet and miserable, but I've still been cleaning the car three times a week haha!

Soooo I was booked into Audi for the coilpack recall; I thought it was easy and I would turn up and have a cup of coffee and then half an hour later I would get my car back with four new coilpacks. How wrong was I.

First of all the reason I was booked in for the coil pack recall was because a coil pack went down and I phoned Audi to get a price and they mentioned I was due the recall, they told me I would have to wait 14 days to be booked in. So I borrowed a coil pack of Phil and drove around with it, until another coil pack went down and then I borrowed ANOTHER coil pack off Phil.

So I went into Audi and was greeted by the snotty receptionist with a clipboard thrust in my face asking me to write down every detail about my car, mileage, condition, any valuables etc. She went out and cross checked it and took the keys. All very abrupt and rude.

Service manager comes out half an hour later and says that because my vehicle had been so extensively modified the "warranty" work wasn't going to be honored and I was told to get on my way. I asked the service manager to explain why my modifications would put the coil packs under any extra stress or strain and for him to justify why my vehicle wasn't work for the recall.

He couldn't because he was a total muppet, so they agreed to do the work.

Half an hour later the service manager talks to the receptionist and then goes off to deal with another customer, the receptionst comes back, "we can't do the work in full because two of the coil packs are not original so we cannot do all four."

I explained that the two original coil packs were on the drivers seat and this had been explained to the receptionist. So she goes off to relay this information to the service manager, and told him that I wanted to keep the original recall items. Fail!

Then the warranty manager made a comment to the customer he was with and rolled his eyes, instantly looking very embarrassed when he realised I was looking right at him, and I was neither deaf or blind.

Service manager tells me it takes half an hour to swap the coil packs and I will need to pay 0.5 hours labor at £75 an hour. So I asked him to step out to the car so I cold ask him about the work. The car hadn't moved from the customer parking bay I had left it in. I don't think he was expecting me to open the bonnet and swap both coil packs within 20 seconds and simply hand him the keys back and say "that's what I think of your thirty minutes labor." I placed the coil packs on the drivers seat and walked off.

Another half an hour later the receptionist comes back, the work was completed. I got into the car and only one of the coil packs was in the center console.

I was a bit ****ed off, but at this point I was an hour and a half late for work due to their incompetence so I thanked them and left with my four new coil packs.

I got back to work and decided to just pop the bonnet to see the difference between the old and new coil packs; I was greeted by this -

Heroic work Plymouth Audi; you have truly excelled yourself in quality of workmanship and courtesy.

    -

On the plus side, the new coil packs have improved my fuel economy by roughly 10% as well as the car being much smoother on part throttle with a much more stable idle. So yey for that :)

Prawn has come home, which means the A3 is back as well as my Miltek.

This poor backbox has done SO many miles, as well as loads of track days and a 140mph crash on the ring. The exhaust tips were welded on by Prawn back when he couldn't actually weld, the center box was stoved in when the car was crashed and the rear beam bent, all the hangers are split from the impact as well as the entrance to the back box.

Cleans up alright though, and it sounds SO SO good.

It was a great day, good to meet you Prawn and Robin (top blokes) and the Track car is EPIC, i love it and wanted to take it home so badly :)

I wish mine was Fwd, i really do, as nice as quattro is id rather it was fwd, Prawns car and Jardos are so different in the way they put the power down, but i love them both, and would own either, Jardos puts the power down well, looks spot on and can cut it in the office carpark or on a Strip, Prawns on the other hand is a monster, damp/wet roads the power didnt go down well (loads of fun) road manners on both are top draw and both are a credit to there owners

I must say i was really looking forward to going out in the TC, and it was better than i thought, Awesome, and Nick is a top bloke aswell

If anyone wants a quattro set up they can have mine, quattro is for girls

    Jardo hacked your account?

Just pull out the haldex fuse, remove prop and rear diff/shafts and stick on a fwd box. Job done and you'll have a better rear suspension that beam. Ali at Unit18 did it on his old Octavia 4wd.

Funny you should say that, as i said to Jardo and prawn it would be a good idea to remove the dead wieght and make it fwd :)

No Phil, it would be a **** idea haha :p

My car is the best daily driver, it's quick and it goes round corners and stops well whilst being cheap to run and maintain and having bullet proof reliability.

Prawns is shocking as a daily driver, but within its environment it is a brilliant track car.

Your car will be something in the middle, a better power to weight than mine and the ability to put the power down. Your car is nowhere near as heavy as an S3, so it is a different kettle of fish. Your challenge is to make it stop and go round corners better. PROPER suspension, adjustable camber and castor, super sticky tires, LCR brakes and as much interior weight saving as you can justify. Your car is a middle ground between my pimp daily driver and Prawns all out track toy, and if done right it will be perfect for your road driven weekend toy :)

You're also at an advantage because 5 door A3's are actually lighter than 3 door ones. (Or at least I'm 99.9% certain they are.)
