bbc news website has great footage. its shocking and horrible, but at the same time im in awe of it, its amazing.
Japs cope very well with it though, some of the best earthquake defence engineering in the world, if it were an ledc things would be alot lot worse.

    mighty earth. incredible

I could not imagine having something like that happen here and how we could deal with it.

Just been watching the Live footage and a chap just sait it was 10.9 on the richter scale. BBC suddenly splashing up the correction of 8.9. I love live TV.

As always, thoughts go out to all thoughts involved.

I have a good friend over there and my younger cousin just got married last week and lives over there! Both are fine, but their public transport has been hit, so they are mainly on foot!

Not had a chance to watch any of this yet, as im at work, but my thoughts are with all those out there and those that have friends and family out there......

Just makes you think how lucky we are over here, now can you imagine, what would happen if it hit us, we would be wiped out in a flash....just look at us with a bit of snow!!

Bad scenes out there, I have just read about the nuclear plant having a massive explosion now and a serious radiation leak!!

Mother nature is quite a scary thing at times.

Very scary indeed. I live about 50m above sea level, probably 8 or 10 miles from the sea - could be worse, but still thought provoking.

I guess the final death toll will be many thousands.

cant understand why they built the nuclear station next to the sea if they are prone to earthquakes.Terrible for the country.

Sea water for cooling the reactor core...... but when 9.0 hits..... pipes break ... 3 security systems and none of them worked....

    Murphy's Law..........

Let's not forget that the Factory was 40 years old with the estimated operational time being 30 years........

My cousin who just got married to a Jap bloke last week is on her way back to the UK. He's staying though, so I feel kinda sad for her, she's scared, and she's under pressure from her parents to leave the country. :(

Another friend of mine is coming back to the UK, aeroplane tickets are very expensive atm, but who can blame them?!

But the local people in Japan(Tokyo specifically) are just plodding along like nothing happened. Guess they have no where else to go and want to get on with life....

Those google sat images before and after are unreal

Unfortuantly this is what happens when your country sits between numerous tectonic plates!
