JabbaSport IHI Turbo

    Hey guys, been looking at buying an Owens Garrett Kit from JS (Turbo Owens Garrett Kit - Small Ex/Housing 400hp - 4WD)

    Anyone got one fitted? Whats the threshold like

    Going to get a JS manifold too, and other supporting mods

    Opinions on these greatly apreciated, Cheers

    jabba sport no what they are talking about when it comes to 1.8ts. from what ive heard the ihi conversion is the best conversion around which is at a reasonable price. mtm will charge a lot more money(aound 9k) for the same sort of power. ive also heard that the garret turbo has a better pull and is more reliable.

    Looks overpriced to me.

    Why not just buy a vanilla GT2871R or GT3071R?

    Jabbasport 'Custom mapped' my S3 and it ran lean and hot, personally I wouldn't use them for any work again. Just FYI.

    Dont get too greedy on boost, and I would advise considering egt's are measured (in collector!) so the ecu can try and keep control...
    Ask for a lot, and they will indeed run uber hot which is where reliability takes a hit

    Its a GT30 based unit available in a few different specs from Owens inside an IHI flanged hotside they have made.

    Can make some good power, but mind the egt's thats all

    strange to hear that as Jabbasports are ground workers with hands on approach knowledge in the feild of tuning VAGs.
    that must have been a on off.

    Heard top stuff about Jabba. My friend got his IHI done on his TT a few months ago and it's running brilliant, very good progressive power for 350bhp!

    I paid for their premium custom mapping service for my standard S3. A couple of years later I took it to Badger5 who logged the car on the dyno and it was running 14.5+ AFR, the boost was turned up to maximum without fueliing to suit and as a result the EGT protection was kicking in regularly at 5k rpm (with a glowing orangey/white manifold). I've just renewed my failed fuel pump with the car having only covered 70k miles, which I put down to the pressure on it from the EGT protection due to the poor mapping. Maybe I am a one off, but that was my experience.
