Very kind of you too
Yes I did think this, I'll look at the £30 I spent on this copy as a demo/trial version, it's proved the original is worth the cash, so I'll take the plunge and buy it once the house move is sorted out.
Mike, be glad I didn't post this one I found.....
Can't remember whether that was taken in Whitley Bay or Cullercoats !!
About 1982 judging by how young I looked !!! lol
I love this thread
That makes 2 of us, my cars fixed and I've finally seen what Mike looks like, no more mystery internet stranger
What was the fix then or was it your **** cable?
Good work Mike!
Fill us in then............ Anything like the above pic?
I meant fixed as in all error messages are now gone and the power steering is now working, the cruise control coding error is still there, but I'm guessing it's the cheap cable, I'll know for sure when Mike gets time to use his.
thank the gods
You mean the pic isn't really of Mike
Right guys - just to clear this up that definitely is NOT me - just Jonny playing around with some kind of photoshop thingy !!! lol
Hat's ok but I'm not into American Football !!
Haha, i googled 'super mike' and it came up..
Just an update guys.
Met OP this morning and went through all the processes for coding CC. Steering ecu coded (and uncoded) ok - his steering wheel is the non-shield airbag 3 spoke version.
When trying to either code or uncode the engine module, error message 22 appeared as in post #69. Measuring block 06 did not respond to any switch movements.
Interestingly whenever I tried to exit the engine module the programmme froze ! This happened three times
As a process of elimination I have lent him the steering module that I used for cc to see if that makes any difference.
To be continued !!!
So its the original 8P old wheel/airbag type.
Ok I may have some further info, but may not apply to this issue, 1st have you got a screen dump of when you got the error pop up, 2nd what version of vcds did you use Mike?
I didn't do a screen dump personally but the error message was the same as post #69.
I was using the latest ( 10.6.3 ) version as supplied by your goodself !
Any further info available Nige ?

Still investigating the issue found, but maybe related to beta 11.2, but RT have tested & cant repeat so will check back when done, but as you were on 10.63 then kinda irrelevant to the issue, however I had issues coding cruise for someone last weekend.
Did you solve your problem ?
I got cruise installed, but not entirely sure why it didnt work, so testing to do on my car later.
Cheers mate - I look forward to any advice you can give
solution vas pc
I realise I am not worthy but WTF do you mean ? lol
Just noticed - how the hell did you get all your thanks back ?
I had a couple of hundred or so and was quite proud of them !!
lmfao, I still think somethings been done by OP
Nah mate thats what I got from the last 2 weeks
No offence mate but that's '********' lmfao
vas is the dealer diagnostic
you can buy the kit but its a lot more than vcds and I mean a lot more, cost me £900 without the lap top, thats just the oem head unit and software
1st I suspect a pub visit & 2nd, mate nothing but love for me on here.
& if you believe that you'd believe anything lmfao
Bloody hell - I thought VCDS did more than VAG dealers/indie specialists had available ! Wrong !!
Are you saying that vas can sort things where VCDS can't ? and is vas available to plonkers ?
Can you guarantee that the problem described in this thread can be sorted by vas ? :icon_thumright:
Vas can do something vcds can do & vice versa, but vas is thousands legitimately, so unless you have a lottery win forget it.
Yeah - that is a lot !! But would it solve this problem ?
Don't worry mate - I haven't got the inclination to buy it !
But nobody has yet confirmed that, even if I did, it would be able to sort the problem.
My friendly indie has it ( I think ). Is it in a sort of blue case with loads of connectors
yes it can
yes you can if your trade buts its very hard to get a dealer to supply then there is the license activation as well
vcds is very limited on information and its just a copied software program of vas self diag with additional long code helper
i have both but i dont pull my self off over vcds as it has limitations when using it for diagnostics on daily basis
diyers love it but to me its limited and ross tech are some way behind with log files
i use it for speed and long code helper is very good as vas coding from 2008 (not all control units) is via svm online server so no byte descriptions are available
if your professional you need both, if your a fiddler you can use vcds for all your twiddling lol
earning a living and pissing around are very different things
Your last sentence is very true mate ! I agree wholeheartedly !
I think I'll pop to my Vag specialist and see if he will help with the problem - god knows I've spent enough time and money with him so I'm sure he will !!
Thanks for your info mate.
the ecu is locked out so you may need to disconnect it but i have had this before when i used to travel around (private jobs)
I travelled down to the midlands to fit dis and cruise rnse and bt on a b7 3.0 tdi
The exact same problem occurred so it wasn't the current vcds beta or normal version but I had my vas with me and it enabled the cruise in address 01 but i had to disconnect the ecu for a while.
With out realising I entered the wrong value for the login, this then timed me out and error 22, hence I travel with three lap tops or did do before every tom **** and harry started fitting cruise lol
I fitted cruise to 2011 a3 last week with vcds no problem and a 2008 3.2 tt
I now have mobile broadband until the home broadband is installed in the new house, thanks a million Mike for the help and the loan of the steering ECU, I haven't had time to install it yet so will get round to it as soon as the house resembles something we can live in.
Tech how do you disconnect the engine ECU?
Also me and Mike wondered at the time if the actual Cruise Control unit may be at fault as it was second hand unit from a Vag parts place, would the engine ECU still allow the coding if it wasn't detecting it?
