If building and engine... like stroker etc, then its all apart, and makes good sense to get the parts balanced..
If dropping in rods etc, no, and yes keep std pulley as a minimum...
Fluid Damper would be for the higher spec engines as a good idea.. as much std parts would no longer be on the engine, and its rev range will likely be significantly higher.. eg mines run to 9000rpm vs stock 6800rpm limiter.. engine dynamics from that and 600bhp are somewhat different to drop in rods on a 350bhp ish motor with near normal rev range
its choosing the right bits for the spec you are building for.
if there's a demand, regardless of it being ill founded by clever marketing or plain simple ignorance, companies will make stuff to sell you.
The Fluid Damper IE sell is the correct part for those with builds which warrant such a component.
