    Yes perfectly normal, allows suspension to move down .

    Ps your engine bay is far to clean... You obviously don't drive it enough :)

    Nope... top mounts are worn... I would also suspect there will be a mark on the bonnet just above where the cap is a bit like this...

    The rubber mount compresses and looks like yours does... new vs old...

    I'm so sad i'll spend a few hours cleaning my engine bay!

    Cheers Tuffty. Whats involved with replacing them? Big job or can it be done at home?

    Fairly easy job depending on your competence... remove the strut (loads of guides on the web showing that) and take it apart etc... here is a link to my build thread when I did mine...
